In downtown Fairfield, a California-style restaurant called Malibu, has quickly gained popularity, so we decided to pay a visit. We were able to try a variety of items off the menu and the staff made sure we did not leave hungry!
What did we eat?
To begin, we were given three drinks: the Malibu margarita, the patio lemonade, and the red sangria. As for food, we began with the delicious Big Sur salad, shishitos & peaches, bacon & corn guacamole, and sweet potato guacamole. All were amazing and the sweet potato guac was a vegan option for one of our vegan members (just make sure to ask for it without cheese!)
Next came out three beautiful plates of tacos. There are nine tacos offered on the menu; buffalo cauliflower, Nashville hot chicken, glazed pork belly, pastrami rueben, sliced rib eye steak, marinated lamb, chipotle chopped shrimp, ahi tuna ponzu, and duck & pineapple. We were given all but the rueben and lamb to try. Our vegan member was given a special lentil & portobello taco which is not on the menu.
Here are our overall taco ratings!
– Buffalo cauliflower 8/10
– Nashville hot chicken 9/10
– Glazed pork belly 10/10
– Sliced rib eye steak 8/10
– Chipotle chopped shrimp 9/10
– Ahi tuna ponzu 7/10
– Duck & pineapple 7/10
– Lentil & portabello 7/10
Just when we thought we couldn’t eat anymore, a tres leches cake with raspberry compote was brought out, and I’m glad we saved room for dessert, because it was fantastic.
Everything we ate at Malibu was delicious so I can confidently say they are receiving well-deserved hype. There is much more offered on the menu than what we ate. I highly suggest going with friends and/or family and finding your Malibu favorite!
