Here’s How to Enjoy Thanksgiving in Tallahassee This Holiday Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at FSU chapter.

Sometimes we can’t go home for Thanksgiving because of work or other reasons, and Thanksgiving in Tallahassee can be a little gloomy (especially since a lot of students have already left town). Despite being away from home, you should still celebrate this Thanksgiving with your friends who are in town.

Here’s some ways  for you to celebrate this Friendsgiving:

Have a picnic at one of Tallahassee’s beautiful parks

Grab a couple of friends and plan a picnic where you can sit by beautiful parks such as Cascades Park or Lake Ella. Enjoy the wonderful fall season as you munch on some delicious food. Grab a nice bottle of wine, cute dinner plates, a speaker for music, and a large comfy blanket to complete the scenery.

Have a potluck

Being in college is rough when it comes to trying to create a delicious homemade meal all on your own. Grab a group of friends to split the cooking and celebrate the day of Thanksgiving together.

#Spoontip: If you can’t decide who is going to cook what, create a Pinterest board with some delicious options to pick from.

Head over to a local bakery for some delicious Thanksgiving treats

Sometimes we want that moist, homemade piece of pumpkin pie instead of the traditional Publix brand. What better way to give thanks and support Tallahassee restaurants and bakeries than to place an order for your Friendsgiving treats?

Maybe you and all your friends are not the best chefs, or maybe you just want to relax on Thanksgiving and eat a home cooked meal that you don’t have to make yourself. Why not get all dressed up with a group of friends, and head over to a restaurant that will be celebrating Thanksgiving. This will give you the opportunity to be thankful to your waiters and chefs at our local restaurants in Tallahassee that have to cook on this holiday.

Here are a couple of restaurants in town that will be open:

A La Provence, 1415 Timberlane Road, will open at noon with the last seating at 4 p.m. If you want to enjoy a delicious three-course Thanksgiving dinner, then call for a reservation. The feast will be $41 per person, half price for children. Call 850-329-6870 for reservations.

We know that being away from your family may be tough, but there’s still so many options to enjoy good food and remind ourselves what we’re thankful for. Grab those around you and host a small party, make breakfast together, bake together, or simply hang out and appreciate each other’s company for the day.

Happy Thanksgiving!
