If you are hungry and lost in this gypsy area of Delhi, don’t worry. Just shout out to the best Cholle Bhaturas in town and there will be many pedestrians, rickshaw wallas to guide you to this famous place called the “Sita Ram Dewan Chand Cholle Bhature”. They serve a plate which definitely falls tiny to accommodate the King size meal.

A full plate has two big bhaturas, the curry made of “chaana”, annar daana ki chutney with pickled carrots and green chilies. Believe me when I say this, one plate will fill your stomach enough to help drive you through the day.

Cost: ₹30 half plate

2. Moong Dal Ke Samose at Janta Sweets, Multani Dhanda, Paharganj Market

Bored of the usual potato samosas? Discover the place which dared to experiment and challenged the mainstream potato samosa.
Hot, crispy and fresh, when you rip the samosa into two parts, you can smell the cooked, yellow lightly spiced dal. You will have to rush early to the place to eat the samosas because the stock gets over really soon. The samosa is served with a spicy potato and cholle curry.

Cost: ₹10

3. Jang Bahadur Kachoriwala, Chandni Chowk

Situated on the corners of the famous Paranthewali Galli, this place brings out the most typical tastes of Old Delhi. It is always busy with people, people making fresh kachoris, people enjoying those kachoris. Also, their walls are filled with newspaper clipping praising their taste.

Cost: Full plate- ₹35, Half plate- ₹20

4. Khushiram Ke Geele Kulche, Paharganj

Breakfast

If you keep walking on the same line of the imperial cinema building, you will see this small regular shop, which isn’t very famous as the others but serves a very unique and interesting dish called the Geele Kulche.
They dip the regular kulchas in the water left after boiling the chickpeas of which they make the curry. Thus, it leaves the kulchas very faintly spiced and leaves a bitter taste. These geela kulchas are then put on a plate, with a few servings of very spicy curry, a dash of ginger, raw onion and lime juice to give it the finale taste.

Cost: 30 per plate

5. Fruit Sandwich at Jain Coffee House, Chandni Chowk

If you are wondering that is it only the oily bhaturas, spicy food which we could eat for breakfasts with a limited budget, we are here to clear this doubt.

Delhi-6 offers you ‘fancy, healthy fruit sandwiches’. A layer of home-made white butter and sugary saffron chutney or a layer of home-made cottage cheese with any combination of seasonal fruits. It is usually mangoes in summers and apples in winters which are the basic ingredients of this sandwich. It is a delight to our eyes as much as it is a delight to our taste buds. And unlike all the other places, this place is dimly lit and is away from the chaos of the Chandini Chowk despite being centrally located.

Cost: 60 for two

Excited or drooling already? We bet. So, bookmark this list for your next Sunday morning and do let us know which one was your favorite.
