For those of you who don’t know what açai bowls are – where have you been this year? In case you’ve been living under a rock, after reading this article, your life will be changed for the better. Açai bowls are thick smoothies topped with basically whatever you want – common toppings include: fruit, peanut butter, granola, chia seeds, and more. Açai berries, which are loaded with antioxidants, fiber, and heart-healthy fats are considered a superfood.

As delicious and nutritious as they are, açai bowls are not readily available everywhere. So, for those in Westchester county who want to get their açai fix, here are the places to go.

1. Padaminas Brazilian Bakery in Mount Vernon

Westchester County

It’s no surprise that a Brazilian bakery would serve delicious açai bowls – since açai berries are native to Brazil. This bakery has been serving açai bowls for years, even before they were all the rage. Padaminas pairs their açai bowl with sliced strawberries, bananas, granola, and a honey or condensed milk drizzle.

2. Skinny Buddha in Scarsdale

Westchester County

Skinny Buddha offers four types of açai bowls (Protein Bowl, Immunity Bowl, Green Bowl, and Chocolate PB Bowl), as well as the option to make your own.  Their bowls ring in at $10.25, but on their website you can find a 10% off coupon.

#SpoonTip: Skinny Buddha also serves smoothies, green juices, salads, and wraps.

3. The Sidecar At The Tavern in Croton-on-Hudson

Westchester County

The Sidecar at the Tavern does not serve typical açai bowls. Instead, the Boom, Boom, Berry Bowl is made from Greek yogurt and blended with mixed berries, bananas, and açai juice. It’s then topped with granola, almonds, strawberries, and chia seeds. They also serve two other smoothie bowl varieties, one made with nut butter and almond milk (instead of açai) and a green smoothie bowl made with fresh greens, pineapple, coconut water, and mint.

So, there you have it. No matter where you are in Westchester, there’s a place you can go to get some variation of your blended fruit and yogurt fix. Açai bowls might be considered “trendy” food, but that doesn’t mean they should be hard to find.
