Just last weekend some of my friends from the LA area drove down to Irvine for a visit. In order to ensure that their visit was worthwhile, I needed to prove to my friends that Orange County has the best food. With so many restaurants to choose from, I knew I needed some place especially good to impress my hungry friends.

I remembered that my friends and I really LOVE food trucks. So I thought it would be a brilliant idea to take my friends to a place that is literally the love child of my two favorite food trucks: The Burnt Truck (specializes in sliders) and Dogzilla (specializes in hot dogs).

Welcome to Burntzilla: Modern Eats.

I convinced my friends to try out Burntzilla, a wonderful establishment that prides itself with their food innovation, quality ingredients, and HAWAIIAN BUNS. Seriously, one of my favorite aspects about the food here is that all the gourmet burger sliders and mini hot dogs are served on King’s Hawaiian buns. The end result is the perfect combo of meat on sweet, fluffy buns.

In addition to these tasty entrees, Burntzilla also offers a selection of loaded fries and tater tots as sides that are all equally delicious. And for me personally, I love fried potato goodness so these sides are very important to me.

The Highlights:

I ordered Burntzilla’s two most popular items: the original Dogzilla and the Fried Chicken Slider. And I can definitely see why these two items are the most popular because they instantly became my personal favorites. But if I had to choose between the two I would choose the Dogzilla.

The Dogzilla has so many of my favorite things in one hot dog: avocado, grilled onions, teriyaki, japanese mayo, furikake (a Japanese seasoning), and bacon!

My friend Alicia got a Street Dog, a Fried Chicken Slider, and the Fried Chicken & Bacon fries. Alicia said that her favorite aspect of her meal was the fried chicken.

Alicia said the chicken was nice and crispy on the outside with a juicy center. She also adds that the country gravy that topped the slider and fries made the food even more flavorful and delicious. Looks good to me!

Earlier in the day, my friend demanded that we eat somewhere meaty. So the items my friend, Laura, ordered are reflective of her earlier demands. She ordered the Cheeseburger Slider and Fried Chicken Slider, accompanied with some Carne Asada Fries.

Laura really loved the Carne Asada Fries because she absolutely loves LOADED fries. My friend also said that the tender meat was complemented with piles of fresh guacamole, making a pretty good combination.

And finally my friend and photographer for our little food venture, Khurshid, ordered the Buffalo Chicken Slider and the Fried Chicken Slider served with some Garlic Tater Tots. Khurshid favored the Buffalo Chicken because she liked the clever combination of buffalo sauce with sriracha. Sounds good to me!

Overall, my friends and I all agreed that Burntzilla is freaking delicious! We really enjoyed the intricate flavors, the creative toppings, and those fluffy Hawaiian buns. I’m proud to say that my friends were very impressed with the food Irvine has to offer.

Well, let’s hope my friends will come visit me soon so we can all visit more delectable locations. In the meantime, I’ll be at Burntzilla. And for you readers out there, you’ll most likely find me seated in the corner of the store, devouring all of the Dogzillas. And you’re certainly welcome to join me.
