Have you heard the news? Apparently College Station beat out Austin in a list of the nation’s top hipster cities. Anyone who lives here might vehemently deny it, but when you look at the criteria used it’s easy to see how we came out on top. After all, few places have more coffee shops per capita than our little town.

Small, cozy and cute, it’s the perfect place to camp out and do homework. In fact, that’s what most of their customers are there for. Chances are that if you haven’t brought a laptop, you’re in the wrong place. Plus they make pretty killer Italian cream sodas.

It’s a city favorite. Not only do they make great coffee, but they serve up kolaches and doughnuts too. If you go, be sure it’s not with a group. Finding a seat in this coffee shop is equivalent to hunting for a parking spot on campus.

This isn’t somewhere you’d go to sit and relax, but if you’re interested in brewing amazing coffee in your own house, it is definitely for you. They roast their beans daily for the best flavor, and sell different varieties by the pound. If you’re looking to be a coffee connoisseur, What’s the Buzz Coffee is the place to shop for any coffee gadgets, gizmos and the best beans in town.

Again, this isn’t a place for deep studying, but if you’re looking for a cup of joe and a sweet treat, you’re golden. They have great seating, complete with an outdoor patio, and an easy-going atmosphere for relaxing with friends after class. When you visit, be sure to ask for a drawing on top of your latte’s foam.

Hopefully this helps dull the shock of our town’s new hipster status. It makes sense when you think about it. Or maybe not. If nothing else, you have some great new shops to try.
