While we’ve all heard of brunch “classics” Two Hands and Jack’s Wife Freda, Buvette is a delicious French gastroteque to add to your list.

The ambiance is the perfect fusion of both intimacy and elegance, also with a dose of French sophistication and Village warmth. The menu variety ranges from waffles to sandwiches, espressos to lattes, and juices to Bloody Marys. I was happily overwhelmed by the extent of options, but I was not about to let the stress of decision-making seep into this very important part of my life. I can only be Stress-ica in so many different social situations.

Though I am biased to anything with prosciutto on top, I can’t help but highly recommend the organic steamed eggs with prosciutto served with toasted Italian bread and shredded Parmesan cheese. The beautiful presentation was trumped only by taste, which they nailed in both the savory and the sweet departments (as attested to by my dining partner, who when asked about her waffles, was speechless from both a lack of words and food-induced coma.)

Side note: the waiter was a doll full of French charm. Even if they weren’t willing to let me add salmon to my meal. Apparently wedding salmon and prosciutto isn’t a thing, but hey, what do I know.

I’ll admit that the atmosphere was much more avant-garde than my typical cozy, hole-in-the-wall brunch go-to, because, I mean, I am a college student. With that being said, I suggest bookmarking this hot spot for a day to “treat yourself.” If you’re like me, finding an excuse won’t be much trouble. I still stand tried and true by my “two -birds-with-one-stone” mentality: both experience and prosciutto are worth the pocketed Christmas money.
