It is no secret that Burlington is a foodie’s paradise, and therefore has the best of everything. So, if it’s a burger you’re craving, look no further for Burlington’s best beef on buns.
The Shopping Bag makes a mean burger. But before you roll through with the squad, here’s what you need to know in order to be a burger pro at The Shopping Bag.
1. The Shopping Bag is a neighborhood convenience store
Yup. It’s your average convenience store, but it sells burgers that are similar in size to a cantaloupe and are ridiculously delicious. So it really isn’t your average convenience store.
Heads up: There’s no seating, so pick a place beforehand to get yo grub on.
2. Ordering
The ordering process is a little tricky, so here’s what you gotta do:
When you walk in the door, there is a kitchen area to the right. This is where the burger making magic happens.
The menu is up on the wall here. When you know what you want, go to the register that is directly across from the kitchen. Place your order and pay. When your order is ready, go back to the kitchen counter and receive your precious burgers.
Tip: call in your order. It gets busy, so call to avoid the wait. You can find pictures of the menu online.
3. Big ass burgers
These burgers are colossal. A ½ lb of beef is a whole lotta meat, and it is filling AF. Don’t think you can eat the whole thing? Trust me, it’s gonna happen.
4. Two words: the Sizzler
The Sizzler is what brought The Shopping Bag to it’s known glory and a mention from the Food Network. It’s made of freshly ground beef and is served on a Koffee Cup roll. It’s topped with crispy bacon, cheese, tomato, onion, and pickle. A magical seasoning in the beef gives it that famous Sizzler flavor, and there is something about the combination of the mayo, ketchup, and mustard that makes it so damn fine.
To put it one way, it is your dream burger.
5. The other specialty burgers are really good too
The other specialty burgers The Shopping Bag has to offer also deserve a shout out.
These burgers are pretty tasty and have unique names and ingredients. Have you ever heard of a cheese sticks on a burger? Well now you have, and you can find them on The Don.
The Cowboy Up, pictured above, is smothered in homemade BBQ sauce and is topped with bacon, onion rings, and cheese. The crunch of the onion rings and the bold flavor of the BBQ sauce adds that cowboy kick. Soon enough you’ll be strutting down town in cowboy boots and blue jeans. Yippie ki yay.
6. Remember to check out the other items on the menu
The Shopping Bag offers more than just specialty burgers- the appetizers alone boast six different kinds of fries. They also have breakfast specials, hot dogs, sandwiches, and more.
Now you know where to find the best damn burger in Burlington.
