1. The Edison
If you’re looking for brunch with a view this is the place to be. Located by Cascades Park, The Edison serves up a brunch buffet like no other (which includes a complimentary mimosa btw). But don’t be fooled, the Edison has more innovative drinks than that for all your boozy brunch desires. For example, their Rosewater Pink Lemonade shaken with Gin sounds about as refreshing as a beverage can get. Paired with an acai bowl and home fries and you’re all set for the perfect Sunday morning.
2. Andrew’s Downtown
Located on Adam’s Street, Andrew’s not only has a brunch buffet but also a separate brunch menu. Personally, the Huevos Rancheros are calling my name. There is nothing better than the combination of breakfast food and Mexican cuisine. Simply put, breakfast nirvana. They also have Mascarpone and Blueberry French Toast that is so creamy and fluffy, they’ll have you wishing every day was Sunday.
3. Madison Social
Now this restaurant is Tallahassee grown, through and through. Run by two Florida State Alumni, Madison Social has been growing rapidly in popularity within the past couple of years. One look at their menu and it’s easy to see why. Sunday brunch at MadSo is a staple for every FSU student. From a Greek Egg Skillet to Morning Flatbread they have it all. Wash it all down with a tangy Grapefruit Mimosa and you’ll be ready to tackle that homework you procrastinated doing all weekend.
4. Prime Time
Three words: Red Velvet Pancakes. Oh and a few more, they’re served with vanilla bean buttercream and maple syrup. Dessert for breakfast is always a good idea. Prime Time even offers up a dish made specifically for recovering from those Saturday night antics that couldn’t be cured by your traditional post-game Waffle House. It’s called The Hangover. They describe their creation as a mountain of house hash with jalapeno bacon, prime rib, caramelized onions, two fried eggs and sausage bacon gravy with a buttermilk biscuit. If that doesn’t cure you then you probably need one of those hangover patches, just saying.
5. Canopy Road Cafe
Midtown and Capital Circle are home to this Tallahassee gem. Canopy Road Cafe is the creator of the Cap’n Crunch French Toast. Yes, you read that correctly and I bet your childhood nostalgia is kicking in right about now. Battered in Crunch Berries, topped with strawberries, blueberries, bananas, and a vanilla glaze, it’s a lot to take in but you’re definitely up to it. Also, just look at that cinnamon roll. A picture is truly worth a thousand words in this case.
6. The Egg
“I like eggs.” –Debbie from the Amanda Show
Located on Austin Davis Ave, this tasty brunch spot is aptly named. When it comes to eggs, the chefs here know exactly what they’re doing. From homemade quiche and cream cheese filled omelets to bennies and breakfast burritos, The Egg has it all. If you’re a fan of seafood brunch then their Ultimate Seafood dish is everything you’ve been looking for. The Lox, Stock & Bagel Benny would be something you’d covet if cold, smoked salmon and poached eggs is what you crave.
7. Sweet Pea Cafe
Calling all vegans! This is where you belong on a Sunday morning as it fades into afternoon. Sweet Pea Cafe is a locally owned and operated vegan restaurant that prides itself in using only the freshest and locally grown produce. They post their Saturday and Sunday brunch specials every week on their Facebook page. Pictured above are Mango Cardamom Pancakes with a coconut cream sauce and fresh Florida mango slices. They almost look too good to be true. Other options include their Tofuevos Rancheros and Gorilla Biscuits and Gravy.
8. The Bada Bean
Bada Bean’s cinnamon roll pancakes are infamous for a reason. With a cinnamon sugar swirl inside and cream cheese icing drizzled on top, there is no going wrong with these. On the other hand, if you’re peanut butter obsessed they have an Elvis Style French toast that is sure to bring you back to the 50s. Their savory dishes include Perdo’s Fiesta and Green Eggs and Ham, another dish to bring out the kid in you.
9. The Paisley Cafe
Located in Midtown, The Paisley Cafe is constantly switching up their brunch options. However, one consistent menu option is the Chorizo Hash. . It includes roasted red potatoes, Mexican chorizo, poached eggs, and a honey sour cream sriracha drizzle. That totally sounds like something that would be served in a hip New York dive, but even better because it’s in Tally.
10. The Brass Tap
Not many people know this, but The Brass Tap has more food than just $2 pizza on Thursdays. Every Sunday they have Brunch and Brews where they serve boozy breakfast items such as Banana & Peanut Butter Ale Waffles and Guinness Bacon Waffles. If you’re looking to go the savory route, they have Sausage Hash that is pictured above. Wash it down with a craft beer and you’re on your way to a perfect Sunday.
11. Sage: A Restaurant
If you’re looking for a high quality seafood brunch Sage specializes in just that. They have a Gulf Blue Crab Cakes Benedict and Tempura Fried Gulf Coast Oysters that will surely transport you right to the sea. Their Brioche French Toast is heavenly and made with cinnamon apples, house made granola, and orange butter.
12. AZU: Lucy Ho’s Restaurant
This brunch option is definitely a curve ball that tests how much you actually mean it when you say that you could eat sushi for every meal. Every Sunday AZU serves up a sushi brunch buffet that includes over 16 different entrees, about 5 different sushi rolls, 4 kinds of nigiri, and more. The idea of sushi for brunch might sound odd, but AZU’s buffet is extremely popular and I hear that once you try it for the first time you’ll be hooked.
13. Food Glorious Food
A restaurant’s name has never described how I feel about food more than this one. Food Glorious Food has brunch with all the trimmings. They have quiche, brioche French toast, eggs benedict, steak and eggs, and more. They even bring out Tallahassee’s southern side by serving classic comfort foods like chicken and waffles and biscuits and gravy.
