Brunch On A Budget: Bottega Fiorentina’s $4.99 Pasta Dishes

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at BU chapter.

Something about the words “Sunday Brunch” triggers excitement in every foodie’s brain. Even if you’re not a foodie, who doesn’t love getting together with friends and beating the Sunday scaries with good comfort food like pasta dishes?

Most college students love brunch, but being in a city like Boston can make it hard to find a place that has a homey feel with good food and won’t break the bank. The good news is, if you’re looking to go somewhere close to campus and want an authentic taste of Italian food, Bottega Fiorentina offers $4.99 pasta dishes that are guaranteed to satisfy your taste buds.

Some History

Located on the corner of Babcock street and Harvard Street in a quaint family style setting, Bottega Fiorentina has been around since 1994 and is a popular location for families, locals, and anyone looking for traditional Italian dishes and goods. With cozy picnic benches and window seats (because who doesn’t love to people watch?), anyone can enjoy the Italian scenery that Bottega Fiorentina embodies in it’s restaurant.

Here’s How It Works:

On Sundays and Wednesdays for $4.99 you can get any regular pasta dish with sauce. We’re not just talking about your basic penne alla vodka, but sauces including “Prosciutto, Sweet Peas, Mushrooms, Cream & Truffle Oil,” “Traditional Meat Sauce with Pork, Beef & Veal,” “Melted Butter Sprinkled With Sage Leaves” and more! In addition to these sauces there are also traditional Italian dishes like lasagna and chicken breast and while they may not cost $4.99, they are definitely worth the couple extra dollars. Paired with an authentic Italian drink, and you’ve got a delicious meal for under $10!

My Experience

When I went to Bottega Fiorentina one Sunday with a friend, I ordered the penne with Gorgonzola Sauce. I love anything with cheese so this was definitely up my alley. The sauce had fresh Gorgonzola cheese with cream, Walnuts, and a sprinkle of nutmeg. The smell, taste, and look of my dish combined with the Italian ambience was enough to send me back two more times with all of my friends. Now, whenever someone mentions getting pasta in the North end, I tell them to walk down the street and they will find some of the best pasta in Boston. Even if you are looking for a quick home-style dinner you can head over to Bottega Fiorentina and indulge in a authentic Italian pasta dish that brings Italian heritage so close to BU’s campus.

Wait! They Have More!

In addition to artisanal pasta dishes, Bottega Fiorentina also has sandwiches, Italian goods such as pasta sauce, pasta, and cookies, coffee, and more! If you want more than just a creamy pasta dish, they have plenty to offer that is all fresh and cooked in their very own kitchen. For someone with a sweet tooth, Bottega Fiorentina serves tasty goods like cannolis and tiramisu! Whatever authentic Italian food you are looking for, Bottega Fiorentina most likely has it. In addition to supporting a local business, you will end up with a belly full of authentic Italian homemade deliciousness!
