Southern Living named Durham “The South’s Tastiest Town,” but much of the delicious food here doesn’t come cheap. With these student and general discounts, you can enjoy the many tasty food offerings Durham has to offer without breaking the bank.
1. Tijuana Flats
This is where to go if you want cheap Mexican food at a normal hour. The half-off deal on Wednesday makes it pretty hard to pass up.

If you want cheap, greasy Mexican food at any hour, go to Cosmic Cantina. A little known fact is that they have a 10% student discount, based on order size.
3. Torero’s
This is another option for Mexican food. They offer a 15% student discount at the 4600 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd location and 20% discount at the 800 W Main St location. #spoontip: ask about the daily drink specials.
4. Sushi Love

A favorite of students, Sushi Love offers BOGO sushi every night and half-priced sushi on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These deals aren’t student-exclusive, but they are still pretty appealing. Unfortunately, this discount only applies when you eat in-house where you cannot use food points.
5. Pomodoro Italian Kitchen

This Italian restaurant was founded by three brothers from Sicily to offer authentic Italian dishes made with fresh ingredients. They offer a 10% discount to students and have coupons and a coupon club on their website.

6. Blue Corn Cafe
Serving various South American and caribbean dishes made with fresh ingredients, this restaurant offers a 10% discount to students on Wednesdays. I’d recommend the Blue Corn Quesadilla.
7. Local Yogurt

This yogurt shop offers frozen yogurt with toppings from nearby farms and vendors and a gives 1$ off on Wednesdays to students.
