Every BU student knows the struggle of waiting for Basho in the GSU during a lunch rush. The long wait finally ends with receiving a delicious sushi bowl or roll.

Over winter break, the street level Warren Towers complex got a new addition, Basho Express. BU students of all years rushed to this new establishment to see what it’s all about, Spoon BU included.

BU student Zachary Schiffman (COM ’18) was thrilled about the new opening upon returning to campus. When asked about his first experience at Basho Express he said, “I cried.” He now frequents Basho once a week.

First up on the must try list is the Kimchee Bulgoki. Grilled marinated beef, kimchee salad, green leaf lettuce, and a sweet chili sauce all wrapped up in rice and seaweed.

The beef was tender, and the kimchee added the perfect crunch and spice in this sushi wrap.

Another thing to try is the spicy tuna. This custom bowl is similar to the Basho in the GSU, but it’s nice to be able to avoid the crowds to get this. Brown rice, spicy tuna, house made cucumber mix, and wasabi mayo makes it hard not to completely devour it.

The spicy tuna brings a bold flavor to this dish and gives an added crunchy texture to the soft rice. Oh, and it’s really delicious.

Basho currently takes convenience points, cash, credit and debit cards, and is trying to add the option of dining points.
