This new sandwich shop, conveniently located in New Cabell Hall, lives up to its name: rising above all other competitors on Grounds.

1. The Hot Sandwiches

These hot sandwiches are just as tasty as they sound. The servers don’t skimp on the ingredients either (unlike the staff at Newcomb Dining Hall).

These filling sandwiches are made freshly to order. So, if you’ve got a hankering for a Turkey and Brie without the turkey (no joke, I heard this order), it’s an easy reality. Rising Roll let’s you be you.

2. The Ready to Go Salads

With our tightly packed schedules, crammed with Spanish class, club meetings and hot yoga class, we don’t have time to wait around.

Made fresh every morning, Rising Roll has ready-to-go salads conveniently located in a case by the coffee line. If a salad isn’t enough to satisfy your hunger, the pastries directly above the salads will surely do the trick.

3. The Iced Coffee

So maybe I lived under a rock, but I had never tried Caribou Coffee before Rising Roll came to UVa. While this fact alone may make it clear that I’m no coffee connoisseur, the Caribou Coffee sold at Rising Roll is nothing short of life-changing.

Most UVa students force down Greenberry’s for that daily jolt of midday caffeine, but now we can finally sip and enjoy a gourmet-tasting caffeine fix.

4. The “Perks”

When springtime rolls around, UVa’s sunny days cause everyone to eat out more often. The monotony of the dining hall menu makes people shell out cash for “real” food.

By taking both Plus Dollars and Cavalier Advantage, Rising Roll is the perfect place to eat out.  It’s nearly as good as Take-it-Away, but even less expensive. It’s clearly a win-win situation.

5. Pick-A-Pair

Rising Roll has a similar vibe to Panera. Pick two options: either a cup of soup, a half gourmet sandwich or a side salad for just $6.99. If you’re looking for a little variety, the Pick-A-Pair is the perfect solution.

I will admit, I was skeptical at first; but Rising Roll surely impresses. The friendly employees work efficiently, making the line move quickly, and the food is well worth it.

Avoid boring dining hall food and the walk to The Corner for your next meal, instead try Rising Roll on the second floor of New Cabell Hall. I promise you won’t regret it.
