Anyone who’s been to New York can agree that food is found on almost every street corner of the city. New York surely doesn’t lack pizza joints or bagel stores though they’re usually hit or miss. Thankfully, through the incredible power of social media accounts, foodies have been able to bless us with their incredible insights and wisdom about the best restaurents, cafes and bakeries in New York.

Instagram accounts like @new_fork_city,  @hungrybetches, @pce_luv_food are a good idea to follow if you’re planning a trip to the Big Apple. After many hours on these instagram accounts, here are the bakeries and restaurants I decided to give a shot.

Hidden amongst warehouses and factories at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge, you will find the Brooklyn Roasting Company. This coffee shop epitomizes all your pre-conceived ideas about Brooklyn. Their coffee is “Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance, and Organic certified,” and every single customer looks like your stereotypical 25 year old Brooklynite.

Not only do they have amazing coffee, they get their doughnuts from dough. These will be the most incredible doughnuts you will ever have. Their flavors range from passion fruit to dulce de leche and melt in your mouth.

There’s a reason New York pizza is famous. Whether it tastes so heavenly because of the water used to make the dough, or because there’s a secret recipe only known to New Yorkers, the pizza in New York is unlike any other you will ever have. Artichoke Basille Pizzeria, located next to NYU sells some of the best pizza in New York, and if you’re feeling adventurous have their signature Artichoke slice, which basically tastes like Artichoke dip on thinly slice bread.

If you decide to visit the lower east side, which you definitely should, you have to pay Tompkins Bagels a visit. Not only are the employees incredibly nice and helpful, their various cream cheese flavors are amazing. Their special Jonas cream cheese, which is a chipotle avocado cream cheese mixed with a special house recipe tastes simply delicious.
