Toronto is bursting with vegan restaurants, shops, and bakeries, but it's hard to find the right place when there's no singular resource that shows you all of your options. 

The city is home to so many different kinds of vegan eateries and countless vegan-friendly places, that to name them all would take forever. So for the purpose of this article, I give you a comprehensive list of all of the places to eat that don't just have a couple of vegan options, but are completely, if not 95%, vegan. 

1. Fresh Restaurants

Fresh is Toronto's most well-known vegan restaurant chain, known for it's huge menu and variety of healthy options. They have everything from salads and bowls, to burgers and healthy milkshakes. With four locations in the city, Fresh will be your go-to for a casual sit-down dinner.

2. Bloomer's 

This laid back café is my favourite spot for lunch and a coffee. Everything on their menu tastes good and comes at a reasonable price. The pulled jackfruit sandwich and cobb salad are the stars of the menu, and make sure to finish off your meal with a sprinkle cookie or donut. 

3. Cosmic Treats 

Cosmic Treats is an exciting dessert and ice cream bar, as well as a full-service restaurant. It's not easy to find an all day vegan breakfast, but Cosmic Treats serves up a decadent plate of tofu scramble, waffles, and home fries on the daily. 

4. Grasshopper 

Grasshopper is a diverse vegan restaurant with two locations in the city. They have both healthy and indulgent food that will satisfy any kind of diet. 

5. Public Kitchen 

Doug McNish's Public Kitchen sells prepared foods every day and acts as a full-service brunch restaurant on Saturdays and Sundays, featuring the vegan egg. Additionally, Public Kitchen's offerings can be found at the Brickworks market. 

6. Live Organic Food Bar

Live's menu is filled with highly nutritious meals, including many raw vegan offerings such as Teriyaki Noodle Stir Fry and Soft Shell Taco. They also sell crackers, wraps and other homemade goods in their store.

7. The Hogtown Vegan 

The Hogtown Vegan serves comfort food for lunch, brunch, and dinner. They have their own take on the classic chicken and waffles called the "unchicken & waffles," which is smothered in cinnamon-spiced syrup, and served with collard greens and sweet potato mash. 

8. Doomie's 

Doomie's is an all-vegan fast food joint with an ambient decor and generous seating meant for sitting and enjoying a "Big Mac." The restaurant is unapologetically vegan and has a selfie room where the wall is covered in pro-vegan comics. 

9. Awai 

Chef Nathan Isberg's Bloor West restaurant Awai calls itself "undefinable but essential," with their pay-what-you-can, no menu concept. Their completely plant-based gourmet fare is complemented by their backyard garden's fresh produce. 

10. Planta 

Planta is a hip restaurant near Yorkville with an ultra-cool and cohesive decor. On some nights, they even have a DJ to liven up the space and complete the youthful atmosphere.

11. Copper Branch

Copper Branch is an 100% plant-based take-out franchise. The menu is impressively large and certainly resolves the question, "but where do vegans get their protein?" They offer tempeh, tofu, shiitake protein, or carrot keftedes on any "Power Bowl." 

12. King's Café

King's Café serves vegetarian Chinese cuisine in Kensington Market. It's great for big groups and serves your standard dumplings and soups, as well as mock meats. The menu is long and is fit for any kind of eater. 

13. One Love Vegetarian 

One Love Vegetarian is a primarily take-out restaurant located near Bathurst subway station that serves Caribbean Creole dishes such as Roti, Callaloo, and BBQ Tofu. 

14. Greens Vegetarian Restaurant 

Greens is a vegetarian Chinese restaurant that serves generous portions and fresh veggies. They serve a variety of Chinese dishes such as fried noodles, rice, and soup. 

15. Kupfert & Kim 

Kumfert & Kim is a "meatless and wheatless" quick-service restaurant that offers nutrient-packed salads, smoothie bowls, and more. There are currently six locations in the downtown core. 

16. Bolt Fresh Bar 

Bolt Fresh Bar is a food counter on Queen Street West that serves decadent açaí parfaits, juices, smoothies, and salads. 


APIECALYPSE NOW! has by far the most creative vegan pizza and junk food in the city. Try the Zachos, which is pizza topped with sweet chilli heat Doritos, or the Chilli-Mac & Charlie, which has mac n' cheese on it! 

18. Ital Vital Rastaurant 

This vegan Caribbean take-out rastaurant wants to "heal, nourish, and vitalize your mind." If it slipped your eye, they call it a rastaurant for a reason, as they serve Ital cuisine. 

19. Through Being Cool Vegan Baking Co.

Through Being Cool serves an expansive variety of baked goods, including croissants. Along with being a very much cool vintage-style shop, they have a savoury food menu and carry many homemade frozen and canned goods. 

20. Bunner's Bakeshop

Bunner's is a gluten free and vegan bakery that has exceeded the boundaries of typical vegan/gf food with cinnamon buns, chocolate cheesecake, and butter tarts. 

21. Sorelle and Co.

Sorelle and Co. is an allergen-free bakery and restaurant that is opening a location in Yorkville, in addition to their shop in Vaughn. Everything is gluten-free, soy-free, vegan, nut-free and preservative-free so that it can be enjoyed by anyone with an allergy or restriction. 

22. Tori's Bakeshop

Tori's Bakeshop is an eco-friendly, natural, and organic bakery with scrumptious treats. They're located on Queen Street East and in the Canary District. 

23. Good Rebel

Good Rebel is an 100% vegan grocer that also makes ready-to-eat sandwiches on the daily. They carry plenty of meat and cheese substitutes that will blow your mind.

24. Cruda Café

Located in St. Lawrence Market, Cruda Café is committed to serving healthy raw vegan food that's not boring. 

25. YamChops 

YamChops is a plant-based butcher shop and market that sells homemade vegan "meat" products and other vegan grocery items. They also offer eat-in or take-out lunch and dinner items. 

26. SÜÜP Health Bar 

SÜÜP Health Bar is a great lunch spot that provides a variety of nutritious, veggie-packed meals. 

27. Rosie's Eatery Inc. 

Rosie's is a bakery and café in North York with table seating and take-out. The menu features many kinds of oatmeal and yogurt bowls along with salad, toast, smoothies, and baked goods. 

28. Rawlicious

Rawlicious is a raw vegan franchise with creative dishes such as sliders, a "chicken" sandwich, and cheesecake. Their goal is to make you feel good about what you eat.

Toronto is the place to be if you're looking to eat your way through a city, vegan or otherwise. As mentioned, there are many strictly vegan locations, but there are also so many places that have vegan menus or vegan options. In this city, you can eat a diverse menu of food that you can feel good about.
