11 of the Best Burgers in San Francisco

A burger with a side of fries and a Coke is the American classic. The City by the Bay offers some of the best food in the world, and of course, it has some pretty good burgers. I compiled a list of the best burgers in San Francisco, so get your appetites ready!

1. Finn Town Burger from Finn Town

Two quality Golden Gate Meat Company beef patties stacked with lettuce, pickles, and American cheese. The key to why it’s so good is their special sauce – homemade triple cooked egg thousand island. Drop by when you’re in the Castro!

2. “French and Fries” from Roam Artisan Burgers

The burgers here are more of a DIY type of thing, as you can choose your patty and choose the “style.” The “French and Fries” is pretty amazing because it’s packed with truffle Parmesan fries, gruyere cheese, caramelized onions, fresh avocado, mustard, watercress, and piquant sauce.

3. Double-Double from In-N-Out Burger

The Double-Double consists of two meat patties, two slices of cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions (if you want), and spread. Be sure to grab a milkshake and a side of secret menu animal fries.

#SpoonTip: Even though it’s a fast food chain, there’s only one location in San Francisco.

4. Crazy Dave’s Double Drive-In Cheeseburger from Garaje

This can be compared with In-N-Out’s burgers, but Garaje brings higher quality and a more decadent flavor. The Drive-In burger has double patties, American cheese, thousand island sauce, griddled onion, lettuce, pickles, and tomatoes.

5. Ahi Burger from Gott’s Roadside

Not your typical all-American burger. This has ahi tuna topped with ginger-wasabi mayo, a mix of Asian slaw, and cilantro, all served on an egg bun. You can stop by the Ferry Building and get your hands on this gem.

6. Ranger Burger from Split

This is a dream come true because your burger basically has onion rings on it. The Ranger Burger has a beef patty, smoked cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato-jalapeño jam, and last but not least, lots of crispy onions. Split has three locations in SF – Russian Hill, Yerba Buena, and SOMA.

7. The Best Damn Grass Fed Burger from 4505 BBQ & Burgers

This place serves some of the highest quality meats and is definitely one of the best burger spots in the Golden State. This burger is stacked with a quarter pound grass-fed beef patty, topped with lettuce, Gruyere, red onion, and a secret sauce. All served on a delicious griddled sesame-scallion bun.

8. Brunch Burger at  Bluestem Brasserie

Brunch is already great. This Brunch Burger is amazing. This is a twist on the traditional burger, as it has a fried crispy hash brown patty in between two meat patties, bacon, pickles, and avocado. And because it’s brunch, a fried egg tops it all off. It’s only served on Saturday and Sunday, so come on by this weekend!

9. “Americana Burger” at Causwells

This is where the party’s at. The Americana has two patties, covered with American cheese. Toppings include lettuce, pickles, and onions. Their secret sauce is so bomb because it’s a mix of homemade thousand island and Worcestershire sauce. Add some avocado too. Oh, and a side of gorgeous potatoes.

10. “Super Burger” from Super Duper Burgers

This burger consists of two 4 oz. patties smothered with their secret sauce. But wait, you must add bacon and cheese onto it because that is what makes it “super.” It’s served on a soft toasted bun, and I would recommend a side of garlic fries.

11. “Double Cheeseburger” from Popsons Burgers

Yes, you can purchase the single patty option. But why? Go for the double. Double the love. It comes with onions, lettuce, and pickles, and is coated with a secret sauce. And best of all, it’s topped with American cheese.

So what are you waiting for? Get yourself to California and get your hands on some of the best burgers in San Francisco!
