‘Wicked’ Stanley Cups Will Be On Target Shelves This Weekend

Fans of the Stanley cup brand, Stanley, and fans of Wicked can unite as the drinkware brand announced a collaboration between the upcoming movie musical adaptation that will be released exclusively to Target stores worldwide on this Sunday, October 13, 2024.

The collaboration comes almost a month before the release of the much-anticipated film adaptation of the popular book-turned-musical Wicked. The first part of the film is set to be released on November 22, 2024. The film is a prequel to the classic 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz, and focuses on the characters of Glinda the Good Witch and Elphaba, who is better known to audiences as the Wicked Witch of the West. The film stars Grammy award-winning pop star Ariana Grande in the role of Glinda and Tony award-winning actress Cynthia Erivo in the role of Elphaba. The film is being directed by Jon M. Chu, who is best known for directing the film adaptation of Crazy Rich Asians.

What do the new ‘Wicked’ Stanley cups look like?

There will be two new cups to get your hands on for the upcoming Wicked season. The Stanley cups are going to be coming in two different colors, appropriately called Glinda and Elphaba. The new cups will also have different designs from one another rather than having different colors and the same designs.

The cup called Glinda is a color described on Target’s website as “rich, buttery pink,” with gold butterflies on the cup.

The cup called Elphaba is described by Target as a “deep, glowing green,” and features a gold flying monkey design on the cup, a creature who has become synonymous with the Wicked Witch of the West.

The ‘Wicked’ X Stanley cups will come in two separate sizes for both of the colors. Both cups are the same price despite different colors. The 20-ounce cup is priced at $35 and the 40-ounce is slightly more expensive, priced at $55.

People have gone to TikTok to announce their excitement such as “they are killing it with the collaboration.” or “this movie is making me BROKE.”

This is not the first collaboration between Stanley and a popular property in the pop culture zeitgeist. Stanley also released a collab with the popular Mattel doll, Barbie, in September of 2024 to celebrate 65 years of the popular doll line with 10 different designs and sizes to choose from on their website. Nine out of the 10 cups in the Barbie collaboration have already been sold out in less than a month at the time of this writing. Stanley collabs have done very well in the past, including the collaboration with the popular American clothing brand LoveShackFancy that was announced in August of this year, and the collab with popular American pop star, Olivia Rodrigo that was launched this July, which coincided with the tour for her popular sophomore album titled ‘Guts.’

The ‘Wicked’ Stanley cups will be made available on October 13 at Target, both online and in-store.
