The McDonald’s Shamrock Shake Might Be Back On Menus Soon

While a lot of restaurants, fast food chains, and grocery stores are embracing shades of pink and red in time for Valentine’s Day or offering game day deals just in time for the Super Bowl, it looks like McDonald’s is staying one step ahead. In addition to launching the McValue Menu and the impending return of the beloved Snack Wrap, it seems like McD’s is also gearing up for another important rerelease. Though there’s been no official confirmation from the chain, the fast food mainstay might be bringing back the infamous Shamrock Shake sometime soon. In addition to this fan-favorite minty milkshake, rumor has it that the limited-edition Oreo Shamrock McFlurry will also be heading back to McDonald’s restaurants in time for St. Patrick’s Day. After all, what tastes better with Valentine’s Day chocolate than a refreshing, minty milkshake?

What is the McDonald’s Shamrock Shake?

The McDonald’s Shamrock Shake is a limited-time seasonal dessert that has become a St. Patrick’s Day tradition since its debut in 1970. The shake, which will likely be available in small, medium, and large sizes,  is made with a deliciously creamy vanilla soft-serve base and a mint-flavored Shamrock syrup. And, of course, it wouldn’t be a McDonald’s shake if it weren’t topped with whipped cream. Since its launch more than 50 years ago, the Shamrock Shake has developed a cult following, with fans making copycat recipes to enjoy at home year-round, and even the creation of a Shamrock Shake Finder app.

What is the Oreo Shamrock McFlurry?

Introduced in honor of the Shamrock Shake’s 50th anniversary, the Oreo Shamrock McFlurry has also returned to the McDonald’s Shamrock lineup every year since its 2020 debut. This seasonal McFlurry, which should be available in both regular and mini sizes, is made with a vanilla soft-serve base and the legendary Shamrock syrup with Oreo cookie pieces mixed in for a minty, leprechaun-approved upgrade to the standard Oreo McFlurry.

When is the Shamrock Shake coming back to McDonald’s?

Although McDonald’s has yet to officially announce a release date, Instagram users @markie_devo and @snackolator, both known for accurately predicting seasonal menus and releases, posted that the return of the Shamrock Shake and Oreo Shamrock McFlurry may be imminent. According to @markie_devo, some McDonald’s customers claim that the shake is being served in Iowa and New York, and he suspects that some stores will begin offering the Shamrock Shake and Shamrock McFlurry as early as February 4.

According to his post on February 1, Devo predicts that Shamrock Shake and Oreo Shamrock McFlurry will return to all locations starting February 10, and leave the menus no later than March 23. This seemingly lines up with previous years, with the two desserts returning on February 5 in 2024, and February 20 in 2023.

How can I get a McDonald’s Shamrock Shake and Shamrock Oreo McFlurry?

The Shamrock Shake and Oreo Shamrock McFlurry are expected to be available at all participating McDonald’s locations beginning February 10 nationwide. You can purchase them at the restaurant or order through the McDonald’s app, while supplies last.
