This coffee trend has taken the internet by storm, like many drink trends that surface on the internet from time. Similar to Cloud Matcha, the Fluffy Seagull Latte has people on TikTok trying out this new drink trend. When you first hear the name of this latte, it can be hard to form an idea of what it may look or taste like, but you’ll be pleasantly surprised to learn that it does not involve any birds to make it. This drink is perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth and an obsession with desserts

What is the Fluffy Seagull Latte?

The name Fluffy Seagull Latte refers to the location where this viral drink first originated. This drink started in Yarmouth, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod, bringing attention to the scatter of seagulls and their feathers that you’ll find on the beach. While this drink didn’t become popular until this summer, around Memorial Day, the Lighthouse Keeper’s Pantry, a cafe and food shop, first started serving this iced coffee drink in 2023

Each Fluffy Seagull Latte is lined with marshmallow fluff spread around the cup to add a sweet and sticky taste to the drink. Marshmallow fluff is a well-loved cream spread popular throughout Massachusetts. This white sugary spread also makes an appearance in Massachusetts’ well-known state sandwich, The Fluffernutter, made by sandwiching this white cream with nothing other than peanut butter and bread. This combination has clearly inspired those from Lighthouse Keeper’s Pantry, and as a result, has created this viral drink that has brought in large crowds, thanks to the influence of social media. After the marshmallow fluff has been spread, you can go ahead and fill your cup with ice, milk of your choice, peanut butter syrup, and espresso. 

How can I make the Fluffy Seagull Latte at home?

If you have no plans of visiting Cape Cod this summer but still want to try this viral drink, there’s no need to feel discouraged because. Luckily, this drink is surprisingly easy to DIY at home. Simply line your cup with the marshmallow fluff cream. Then, add your flavored syrup, ice, milk, and top it off with some espresso. But the step that may require a little extra work if you’re trying to stick exactly to the recipe is sourcing peanut butter syrup, preferably one that’s already made, to save yourself the time. If you don’t have any syrup on hand, it’s best not to opt for the peanut butter jar you found in the back of your fridge. You’ll find that you’re left with sticky clumps at the bottom of your cup rather than the ease syrup provides. What’s made this drink so addictive isn’t just the taste but the full-blown trend surrounding it. It’s the kind of drink you can’t help but share online or make with friends, which explains the lines wrapped down the street just to get a taste of it.
