No, Chick-fil-A Isn’t *Actually* Launching A Streaming Platform

On November 18, the Chick-fil-A Play app will be available for download in app stores. The announcement comes a few months after the food world went crazy over an alleged Chick-fil-A streaming platform. While Chick-fil-A may not be the next Netflix right now, that doesn’t mean the app doesn’t have a lot to offer.

What is Chick-fil-A Play?

The free, family-friendly app offers a range of original content for families to enjoy, including original shows. In 2022, Chick-fil-A released the first episode of its animated series Stories of Evergreen Hills — a series themed around how kindness brings people together. The series has since grown to a full season that will also be housed on the app come November. Trailers and short clips from the show are available on the Chick-fil-A YouTube channel

Users will also have access to digital content like “kid-friendly” podcasts, games and jokes, e-books and “interactive stories.” Even better, some videos on the app, like recipe guides and craft tutorials, foster real-life, hands-on activities for both children and parents to enjoy.

According to a press release, the restaurant chain is using the app to encourage “families to make the most of the moments they have with each other.”

“Hospitality and fun have always been at the core of the Chick-fil-A family experience, whether inside our restaurants and play areas, or through our Kids Meals,” Dustin Britt, executive director of brand strategy, said in the press release. “The Chick-fil-A Play App is a digital extension of that experience and another way we’re reimagining ‘Play’ for our Guests, in a unique way through entertainment that really encourages time together.”

Do any other fast food chains have interactive apps?

Chick-fil-A play isn’t the first interactive fast food app, and it likely won’t be the last either. Though it isn’t the educational, family-friendly app that Chick-fil-A is, the Burger King app has some fun games and sweet deals for fans.

Burger King’s Fright or Bite promotion is still in full swing, and participants can win free food just by playing the game. To access your perks, log in to your Royal Perks account and play the “Instant Win” game on the app. Participants will receive one perk per day during the promotion period. Perks include free sandwiches, BK crowns, and more. The promotion ends on October 31.

It’s easy to say that this is clearly the time for fast food interactive apps. So which chain will hop on the trend next? And what new features will be in store?
