Have you ever seen an animated movie or show with food that looked so good, but truly made you sad as it was, indeed, fake? My mind always drifts to how I will never be able to have Remy The Rat‘s version of ratatouille, sample one of Bob Belcher’s actual burgers and fries, or a true-to-from Reptar Bar from the Rugrats universe. Though, and very excitingly, it may soon be possible to actually enjoy a childhood favorite animated food for real. On August 28, several news sources began to share info about the possibility of Wendy’s gearing up to sell real Krabby Patties à la SpongeBob SquarePants. And luckily you don’t even have to live in a pineapple under the sea to reportedly get your hands on one of these fast food items. Here’s what we know about the Wendy’s Krabby Patties rumor.
So, is Wendy’s actually going to sell Krabby Patties?
In honor of 25 years of SpongeBob SquarePants, Wendy’s is teaming up with Paramount to release the Wendy’s Krabby Patty Kollab and a new Frosty. Starting October 8, the Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty and Krabby Patty Kollab Burger will be available nationwide to celebrate the 25th anniversary.
The Krabby Patty Kollab features a beef patty, two slices of American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, and a “top-secret” Krabby Kollab sauce on a toasted bun. The burger’s counterpart, the Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty combines the OG vanilla Frosty with a swirl of pineapple-mango puree.
When did the rumors start?
According to a leaked Wendy’s memo, first reported by Popverse, Wendy’s plans to reveal its Krabby Patty for a limited time. This would serve as a celebration for SpongeBob SquarePants‘ 25th anniversary. Pictures were reportedly sent in an internal memo from Wendy’s corporate offices to certain locations. A Reddit user did share, what appears to be, a legit memo from the restaurant.
We may not have the Krusty Krab on land, but Wendy’s may just be able to make Krabby Patties in real life. SpongeBob’s place of work makes their burgers with a succulent patty topped with onions, pickles, tomatoes, sea lettuce, sea cheese, a secret tartar sauce, ketchup, and mustard, all between two golden seaweed sea buns. Don’t worry, Wendy’s will def not make its burgers with “sea cheese.”
According to this memo, the Wendy’s Krabby Patty is a cheeseburger with fresh produce and a “secret Krabby Patty Sauce.”
