The Upside Down Fruit Cake Is The Dessert Trend You Need To Try

If TikTok is flooding your feed with some insane cake flips recently, I’m right there with you. Over the past month, upside down fruit cakes have been trending all across social media, and to be honest, it’s pretty obvious why. Not only are these upside down cakes pleasing to the eyes and surprisingly easy to make, but the final product genuinely looks like something you’d drool over in a bakery.

The idea is straightforward. The most common way these cakes are made is to lay the fresh fruit along the bottom of the pan, bake it, and then flip it over to reveal that glossy fruit topping. However, another option is to go the no-bake route and let the magic happen in the fridge overnight. Regardless of how you choose to make it, the cake will come out beautifully.

The No-Bake Blueberry Cheesecake At The Forefront

The headliner of this trend is currently the no-bake upside down blueberry cheesecake made by TikToker @wellmadebykiley. This version has managed to accumulate 4.7 million views and 467,000 likes. Before digging into it, the cake appears to be plain and round with a Biscoff cookie crust. After cracking through the hard crust, it is revealed to have a rich berry infused cheesecake filling, and all of a sudden the cakes on your For You Page makes sense.

emotional regulation looks like this in my house, and this is now the only way i want my cheesecake from now on, please and thank youuu 😚 this upside down triply berry cheesecake (no-bake might i add) starts with a biscoff cookie crust that is perfectly buttery and crunchy. then comes a rich and creamy no-bake cheesecake filling layered with a jammy homemade triple berry compote right in the middle 🫐 the whole thing gets inverted, you smash right into it with a spoon and all those layers just come together in the most satisfying way ✨ this one is so fun and perfect for the summer!! the full recipe is up on my blog at wellmadebykiley.com 🤎 enjoy!! #nobakechesecake #upsidedowncheesecake #tripleberrycheesecake #thebestcheesecakerecipe #Dessert @Philly Cream Cheese @Nordic Ware @Biscoff @KitchenAid @Nielsen-Massey Vanillas @From Our Place @Earlywood inspo: @the_hungryhooker

The lack of needing to bake plays a major part of the appeal too, especially for college students. All that’s needed are: cream cheese, heavy cream, Biscoff cookies, and mixed berries. The catch is that it needs to set in the fridge for six hours or overnight while you sleep, so it will require some patience.

Peach & Banana Following Behind

While the no-bake one may be the leading the star, the baked upside down fruit cakes are nothing to scoff at. Alongside the blueberry upside down fruit cakes, peach and banana have been gaining traction over the past month with TikTokers @everydayisfeastday and @bakedwithlovebyivy putting their own unique spins on it. The peach upside down cakes fit perfectly with the summery feel of the season while the banana sits more in comfort food territory. One thing the traditional baked style has, is that stunning caramelized fruit topping you get with the flip.

You can do this with any fruit! Even frozen fruit! You’ll need enough fruit to cover the base of a 9×13 pan (or the like) about 1 cup brown sugar and about 1/2 – 1 full stick of butter melted. Have fun with it!😁 #dessert #cake #peach

Why This Trend Is Taking Off

Part of the charm with this style cake is the accessibility of it. Anyone at home can make one without needing professional skills or expensive utensils, a pan, some fruit, and a few other ingredients are all that’s needed. It’s also endlessly customizable allowing anyone, creators and those at home, to give their own twists on it and keep the trend alive.

If you wanted a reason to finally use your kitchen this summer, you’ve found it. You could start with the no-bake blueberry cheesecake if you want to try the peak of what this trend has to offer, or maybe the traditional route is more your style. As long as you enjoy it, TikTok will definitely approve!
