TikTok Has Us Rethinking Our Sandwich Bites

When eating a sandwich, do you plan out your bites? Last December, a half-eaten sandwich meme was circulating X, formerly known as Twitter, asking “Where’s your next bite?” The sandwich, filled with cheese and meats, had three options for people to choose their next bite. This tweet caused minor controversy and the debate shifted to TikTok. Ahmad Alzahabi, also known as @TheGoldenBalance on TikTok, posted a very passionate argument on why the only correct answer is bite C.

The debate is still circulating on X with multiple users posting the meme at least once a month.

Should your next bite be so strategic?

Many would say yes. In the meme, the three bite options are A) the corner of the sandwich with a bit of all the fillings, B) the juicy middle with a satisfying amount of all the fillings, and C) the other corner of the sandwich with no filling.

Clearly, the next bite has to be strategic.

“You take C,” said Alzahabi in the TikTok, “you do a little bit of the groundwork, the early work, the work that you don’t want to usually do because you can already tell there’s not much filling there.”

Many commenters agreed. One said, “Next bite is C… The idea is to save the best for the last…” However, some disagreed that the correct answer is actually a juicy bite of B. “I’ve been traumatized by greedy siblings growing up. So B is my pick,” commented another user.

Content creator @soogia1 provided a deeper understanding of how to correctly this hypothetical sandwich.

“We all have the same goal in sandwich eating right,” Soogia said in her TikTok describing bite B. “This is the crown jewel of the sandwich, we’ve been waiting for this bite here.”

One thing is for certain, bite A isn’t the first choice. Many are divided over bites B and C.

Who cares about strategically eating a sandwich anyway?

It’s all about fulfillment and making sure you’re not left with a driest bite.

Comedian Leslie Jones also weighed in and commented, “Nope going straight to B son!!” Soogia replied, “Leslie! Then you’re just left with the dry a** corner as your last bite? F**** no!”

This doesn’t only fall on sandwiches. Strategically eating cookies has also sparked a debate.

Last month, TikTok user @imjcowell posted, “Personality test: where’s your next bite?” with four bite options for a half-eaten double chocolate chunk cookie: 1) a small corner of the cookie, 2) a middle piece with lots of chocolate chip chunks, 3) the right corner of the cookie with some chocolate chip chunks, and 4) the bottom of the cookie with no chocolate chip chunks. The comments are divided between leaving bite two for last or going for it as your first bite.

Seems like there’s two kinds of people, the people who leave the best bite for last and the ones that don’t.
