The Buffalo Bills Made A Surprise Visit To An Ice Cream Shop

There’s nothing like a sweet treat to make the sweltering summer heat a bit more bearable — and that seems to be a mantra that NFL players live by as well. Preseason for the National Football League is underway, and the Buffalo Bills were spotted making a quick post-practice trip to Pittsford Farms Dairy, just an hour outside Buffalo.

The local shop, known in and around Pittsford for its homemade ice cream and baked goods, shut down to the general public upon the team’s arrival. High-profile Bills players, including injured wide receiver Khalil Shakir, showed up at the store with the entire team to grab some ice cream to cool off.

Even though the Bills are focused on winning another title, they’re not at all opposed to taking some time off to bond as a team. This isn’t the first time they’ve gone out for ice cream together, either. In 2019, Bills coach Sean McDermott took the team for milkshakes on their way to Charlotte to play the Carolina Panthers for a preseason game.

The team isn’t unfamiliar with Pittsford Dairy either. The store sits only six minutes away from St. John Fisher University, where the team’s preseason training takes place. Cornerbacks Tre’Davious White and Christian Benford took a separate trip to Pittsford Dairy on July 26, captured on camera for HBO’s Hard Knocks: Training Camp as a part of the show’s preseason chronicles. White, who ordered a sundae with chocolate chip cookies, vanilla ice cream, and other assorted toppings, got 10 extra “Tre Day Sundaes” to give to other customers.

While the Bills are in the spotlight for their ice cream stop, Pittsford Dairy isn’t the only eatery in upstate New York that’s benefited from the Bills being so close. Like other NFL teams, the Bills bring in a surge of customers to local businesses both during the season and in pre- and postseason. Pittsford Dairy is just one business that sees a revenue boost because of the Bills, and places that serve classic game day food often see many more customers hoping to enjoy a bite while watching their favorite team in action.

La Nova, a pizzeria in Buffalo, is one of many of these. During the 2025 playoffs, the store reported making over 5,000 pounds of chicken wings to feed the hungry “Bills mafia” during the team’s fight against the Broncos, bringing in hundreds of fans who were desperate for a win for Western New York.

Though the Bills had a disappointing end to their last season, their stellar record is sure to keep customers out to grab a meal before or during a big game. And, if Buffalo fans are lucky enough, they might just be able to spot their favorite football team out for a snack run nearby.
