Taylor Swift Gifts Sourdough Loaf To Selena Gomez & Benny Blanco

Selena Gomez is no stranger to the kitchen. With her show Selena + Chef beginning during the pandemic and running for four seasons, not to mention its sequel Selena + Restaurant, it’s no secret that Gomez loves showing off her culinary skills. But she’s not the only one who knows how to whip up something in the kitchen. Taylor Swift, Gomez’s best friend of nearly two decades, is a baker at heart and sent Selena a birthday gift emphasizing exactly that.

What did Taylor Swift give Selena Gomez for her birthday?

Swift sent Selena and her fiancé, Benny Blanco, a homemade sourdough loaf as part of a gift basket to celebrate the couple. The gift basket, which also included a frankincense candle from Le Labo and a few small glass bottles that look to be cooking oil or vinegar, arrived on Tuesday — Gomez’s birthday — and was shared on Blanco’s Instagram.

Why did Taylor Swift give Selena Gomez sourdough bread?

Swift’s bread, the focal point of the basket, featured floral stickers on the packaging with handwritten messages from the singer. “Home Made Sourdough,” “For Selena + Benny,” and “Love, Taylor” adorned the packaging and added a sweet touch to the savory loaf. Swift added one more sticker with the words “It’s a loaf story,” a callback to her song “Love Story” off her 2008 album Fearless.

This isn’t the first time Swift’s culinary prowess has been shown off online. The singer, who Gomez called “her big cooking person” in an episode of Selena + Chef where Swift made a surprise cameo while Gomez cooked with chef Roy Choi, is famed for her autumnal twist on sugar cookies. Swift first posted the recipe, which calls for adding a teabag’s worth of chai leaves to vanilla sugar cookie icing, on her Tumblr account in 2009. Since then, fans have coined the recipe as a classic fall cookie.

What other homemade gifts has Taylor Swift given her friends in the past?

Despite her being one of the richest women in the world, Swift is also no stranger to making homemade gifts. The singer has shared not only the sweet treats she likes to make and give away (like Pop-Tarts for Travis Kelce and his friends or Ina Garten’s meatballs and spaghetti she reportedly makes at dinner parties), but also a baby blanket for Patrick and Brittany Mahomes’ daughter, Golden Raye and a teddy bear for Gigi Hadid’s daughter, Khai (that was possibly made from one of Swift’s old dresses). So you know being Taylor Swift’s friend would not only mean that you could possibly get a sneaky listen to TS12 or the vault tracks never released during her Reputation or Debut era, but you also might be given a gorgeous handmade gift or delicious treat.
