Instant coffee is convenient, easy, and budget-friendly. Instead of dropping $6 on a Starbucks latte, instant coffee allows you to craft your own drink from the comfort of your own home. However, it does mean you miss out on the frothiness of a freshly brewed espresso from a cafe.
Luckily, Starbucks has solved this problem with its new instant coffee collection. The Crema Collection Premium Instant Coffee has the same taste and creaminess as the chain’s normal instant coffee, but an added layer of thick foam over the espresso that will make you feel like you’re drinking coffee made by a Starbucks barista.
What is the Crema Collection?
The word “crema” refers to the foam that forms on the top of freshly made espresso. The new packaged latte comes in three flavors: a buttery and smooth Salted Caramel, a velvety and rich Madagascar Vanilla, and a chocolaty and luscious Molten Chocolate. According to the Starbucks website, the line is coming soon to most major grocery stores. Spoon University has reached out to Starbucks for more information on the specific date these three indulgent flavors will be on the market.
The Crema Collection “sips differently,” a Starbucks Coffee at Home spokesperson told Food & Wine, calling its new innovation “one-of-a-kind,” highlighting the potential absence of similar products on the market. Unlike other coffee beverages available on the market, the Crema Collection provides a cafe-quality experience and taste right from your own kitchen. Starbucks Coffee at Home saw a need for flavor driven products for at-home coffee drinkers without sacrificing convenience, and they delivered with the Crema Collection’s unique offerings, the spokesperson said.
How do I make the Starbucks instant coffee from the Crema Collection?
Starbucks recommends adding 1.5 ounces of the mix to eight ounces of water for hot coffee and four ounces of water for iced coffee. Then, stir until fully mixed to create foam. If you are making iced coffee, add approximately half a cup of ice, and you have a delicious brew comparable to in-store coffee. Of course, Starbucks advises adding any Starbucks creamer for even more flavor, but you can also use it as a base for a homemade Dubai chocolate latte or Starbucks Valentine’s Day drink.
What else has Starbucks been up to in 2025?
The Crema Collection is in line with the Back to Starbucks initiative, a company-wide push to bring back the coffeehouse feel that Starbucks was founded on. Spearheaded by new Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol, the project includes a distinction between for here and to-go drinks, career growth opportunities for employees, and a commitment to establishing a welcoming atmosphere in every store.
Even if you aren’t visiting Starbucks in-store, the Crema Collection allows you to feel as though you are. The innovation of the three new flavors is “on brand” with the rest of Starbucks’ new developments. I know what my next grocery store purchase is.
