What Is A Savory Snack Plate & Why Is It All Over TikTok?

First there was the Tiffany plate, a combination of dips, veggies, and other snacks. Now, content creator Stephanie Jakubek has created the savory snack plate, a new take on girl dinner. The savory snack plate brings together all things salty. From hashbrowns, tzatziki, hard boiled eggs, and whatever else Jakubek decides to throw in that day, the savory snack plate has taken TikTok by storm for its versatility and appeal.

How did the savory snack plate start?

Jakubek posted her first savory snack plate TikTok on October 14. Her first plate was a platter of cream cheese, everything bagel seasoning, salami, mini cucumbers, bread, and other small snacks. Jakubek described it as a “salty petri dish of a platter,” and that’s exactly what it was.

Some commenters said “I feel bad for people that don’t eat like this” and “this is what I want all my meals to be.” Others even commented pictures of their own savory snack plates that they created after seeing Jakubek’s.

Since her first savory snack plate, Jakubek has continued to post TikToks of more variations. She has added hashbrowns with salt and vinegar seasoning, tzatziki, cream cheese stuffed red peppers, and whatever else she decides to throw in that day. Her TikTok of her “savory girl snack plate” from this past week has over eight million views and 1.4 million likes.

What is in a savory snack plate?

A savory snack plate can have whatever you want in it, but Jakubak typically sticks to similar items. She posted a video where she assembles her snack plate step by step, and included items such as caper berries, Italian olives, red onion, sardine fillets in mustard and dill sauce, and her other classic snack plate items. If you want to create your own, it’s up to you if you want to take inspo from Jakubak or make up your own recipe.

How has the savory snack plate made its way across TikTok?

After seeing Jakubak’s plates, other content creators have started to post their own savory snack plates.

Content creator @alexis.frost made a unique rendition of the savory snack plate, adding mozzarella cheese, hummus, balsamic vinegar, parmesan cheese, and more savory seasonings and toppings.

Youtuber and content creator @nikidemar also was inspired by Jakubek and made her own snack plate. Using most of the ingredients that Jakubek used, this snack plate looked just like the original, and seemed to taste just as good.

Content creator @theangelfoodie tried the snack plate for herself as well, and said it was her “dream plate.” She made almost the same recipe that Jakubek created, and throughout the TikTok, it was clear that she enjoyed it.
