Panda Express Might Unveil a New Utensil to Make Eating Even Easier

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Binghamton chapter.

Panda Express is one of America’s most popular fast food chains. With almost 2,000 restaurants, Panda Express doesn’t fail to show that they’re always on top of their game. But this time they are changing the industry by bringing out a utensil that can change the way we eat their food.

The “Chork” hit shelves in 2011 and is already being sold separately in their own 12 and 24 packs. Lisa Jennings, the West Coast bureau chief of Nation’s Restaurant News, has reported on Twitter that Panda Express is currently “considering” the distribution of these hybrid tools throughout their locations.

The Chork is the the hybrid of the chopstick and fork. Panda Express states that the Chork is the “perfect way to illustrate the mashup of American and Chinese cultures.”

The utensil definitely shows cultural integration, which Panda Express is all for. This plastic utensil can be used in three different ways. One (self-explanatory) use is to treat it as a normal fork. Another is “for those who want to venture out of their comfort zone and try something new” to use it as training chopsticks.

And lastly, you can use it as regular chopsticks by snapping the base of the fork head in two in order to create two separate pieces. Perhaps the adoption of the Chork into Panda Express can influence other chains to integrate creative ideas into their inventory.
