At the dawn of the creation of ice cream, I would love to know the brave soul who heroically proposed mix-ins. Be it Reese’s, M&Ms, cookie dough, Heath pieces, or you name it, frozen treats are undoubtedly better with your favorite candy or baked goods swirled in.
Without question, Dairy Queen does mix-ins best with its Blizzards. The creations are thick and creamy — the employee tradition of flipping over the cup is a testament to this — and each bite is packed with flavorful brownie bites or Snickers bars. Signature creations on their Blizzard menu include flavors like chocolate chip cookie dough, mint oreo, choco brownie extreme — my personal go-to flavor — Reese’s, Butterfinger, Heath and more.
What is DQ’s Blizzard of the month for January?
DQ just announced that for the month of January, the Blizzard flavor of the month is Oreo Snowdrift. The Blizzard will feature sky blue cake batter-flavored soft serve just like its Superman Blizzard released last May. Additionally, the Blizzard will have oreo cookie pieces and will be garnished with a wintery marshmallow swirl. Although freezing temperatures may not entice you to get an even colder sweet treat, maybe curiosity to try the new flavor will.
Each month, Dairy Queen adds a rotating Blizzard flavor to its already star-studded repertoire of flavors. For the month of December, DQ’s featured flavors are oreo reese’s and choco-dipped strawberry. Say less — as if any of us need another excuse to stop mid-road trip for an icy treat.
January’s Snowdrift Blizzard treat will be available for a limited time starting Jan. 5, and some locations will offer the treat sooner.
Is the DQ Oreo Snowdrift Blizzard good?
TikTok and Instagram foodies have already reacted to the Blizzard flavor announcement with ample enthusiasm. Instagram creator @snackolator posted on the announcement said that the treat “looks perfect for a winter flavor.”
TikTok user @_thefoodgod speculated that the treat looks like “a whole winter vibe in a cup,” and he said that he is “rocking with this Blizzard,” and TikTok user @worthyourdime posted that the new flavor “sounds like my perfect Blizzard.”
If you are already at a Dairy Queen for its January Blizzard, you might as well try some of its other menu items while you are there — some have even argued that its other menu items top the famous Blizzard. Specifically, be sure not to miss out on the Cheese Curds or any of the sides and sauces.
In celebration of the holiday season, Dairy Queen is also offering a $5 eBonus when customers buy $25 in DQ Gift Cards online. Not a bad stocking stuffer idea, I would say. In other Dairy Queen holiday news, the fast food chain also launched a holiday treat collection featuring a Peppermint Bark Blizzard — the November Blizzard of the Month, a Frosted Sugar Cookie Blizzard — the December Blizzard of the Month, and a Holiday Nog Shake.
