McDonald’s was onto something when they included toys with their Happy Meals. But what if you could take that excitement to the next level? Well, you can, starting October 6 — because that’s when Monopoly at McDonald’s is officially returning.
Monopoly at McDonald’s is a unique and exciting collab between the beloved board game Monopoly and the classic American fast food chain McDonald’s, where customers can participate in a Monopoly-inspired game and win prizes by buying from McDonald’s. But according to McDonald’s leadership, it also goes beyond the tangible rewards.
“Monopoly at McDonald’s is more than just a game,” Alyssa Buetikofer, Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer of McDonald’s USA, said in a press release. “It’s about childhood memories, family moments and surprises that make our day.”
What is Monopoly at McDonald’s, and how do I play?
Monopoly at McDonald’s is a limited-time deal where McDonald’s customers can redeem prizes from eligible menu items, which include:
- Breakfast: Hash Browns, McMuffin Sandwiches, Biscuit Sandwiches
- Breakfast/Rest-of-Day: Large Soft Drink, Iced Coffee, Iced Tea or Specialty McCafé Beverage, Large Hot McCafé Beverage
- Rest-of-Day: Large French Fries, 10 piece Chicken McNuggets, Quarter Pounder with Cheese, Big Mac, 4 piece McCrispy Strips
To participate in gameplay, you’ll need to get the McDonald’s app, opt in to Rewards, and register for the Game. If you have questions on how the sign-up or participation in the game works, this FAQ page from McDonald’s provides details on the entire process.
And this year, all peels are physical (no more peeling in the app). When you order an eligible menu item, it will come with a sticker — simply peel it, scan with the McDonald’s app, and redeem your prize!

What are the prizes?
There are four types of prizes this year:
- Instant-win food — you could win a free menu item such as the McChicken!
- Instant-win loyalty points — you could win anywhere from 1,500 to 7,000 rewards points.
- Collect to win — with the right combo of pieces, you could win big prizes like a Carnival Cruise Vacation or even a 2027 Jeep Cherokee!
- Chance card — this card has a high potential, and if you’re lucky, an even higher payout. With this option, you can earn anything from gift cards to Grubhub or Ulta Beauty, to a cash prize of up to $1 million.
