The New Dairy Queen Superman Blizzard Lands Ahead of Movie Release

The warm weather has officially hit, which means it’s time to put away the coats and put on sunscreen. Heat doesn’t only call for lighter clothing, but also food and drinks to help cool off.

Dairy Queen is one step ahead to provide a summer dessert that will hopefully have customers flying to a location near them. The chain released their 2025 Summer Blizzard Treat menu which includes the Cotton Candy Blizzard Treat, the Confetti Cake Blizzard Treat, the S’mores Blizzard Treat, the Dipped Strawberry Cheesecake Blizzard Treat, and the Mixing Bowl Mashup Blizzard Treat.

As a sweet bonus, Dairy Queen unveiled one more item in the summer treat lineup. The fast food chain announced on social media that it has teamed up with Warner Bros. Pictures to launch the new Superman Cake Batter Cookie Dough Blizzard Treat, which became available at some locations on May 26. The colorful dessert features sugar cookie dough, cake batter flavor, and sprinkles and is mixed together with the chain’s blue dyed soft serve to match Superman’s suit.

Similar to the other Blizzards on the menu, customers can buy this new menu item as a mini, small, medium or large. Plus, this Blizzard is served in a limited-edition Superman-themed cup. Customers can also purchase the Blizzard in a $7 meal deal that comes with either the Sauced & Tossed Chicken Strip Basket or a cheeseburger.

DQ and DC joining forces does not come as a surprise with Warner Bros.’ new Superman adaptation hitting theaters July 11. The action-packed trailer seems to have as much buzz around it as does the hero-inspired dessert. TikTok user Nicole Ludwig said it’s refreshing and she’s excited to see the film when it comes out.

Other social media users like @keinastyle on X tried out the Superman Blizzard and remarked that after trying it once that they had no complaints.

Despite the overall positive reviews of the new item, some customers are conflicted on their decision to try it out or not. Under a thread about the launch, Redditt user @kinggcroww commented, “I don’t like DC, but it sounds really good.”

In the same thread, user @shabols didn’t seem as open to trying the Blizzard and wrote, “Man I got so excited, until I realized this ain’t actual Superman ice cream.” There has been a bit of debate going on about what qualifies as Superman ice cream and what does not. While the Midwestern-born flavor consists of three bright and fruity tasting shades of blue, red and yellow, DQ’s version includes more bells and whistles that doesn’t exactly match up with the original.
Whether you’re a die-hard DC fan, an ice cream critic searching to try something new, or just looking for a way to cool down this summer, Dairy Queen’s line-up of flavors are available to test out. As for the limited-time Superman Blizzard, make sure to check which locations near you carry the flavor so you won’t miss out.
