Dairy Queen Has 85-Cent Blizzards Just In Time For Pumpkin Season

The change of seasons — and by change of seasons, I mean the transition from tropical, refreshing summer flavors to warm, (pumpkin) spiced fall flavors — is something to celebrate, and Dairy Queen definitely agrees. DQ is set to give out Blizzards for 85 cents for a limited time starting in September. Why 85 cents you ask? Well put a party hat on top of your autumn beanie because the beloved ice cream chain is celebrating its 85th birthday. And lucky for you, the deal coincides with DQ’s fall menu, featuring new and classic Blizzard flavors. So you can try a brand new flavor for a fraction of the normal price.

How can you get an 85-cent Blizzard?

It’s Dairy Queen’s big birthday, but we’re the ones who are getting a gift. Starting September 8, you can snag an 85 cent small Blizzard in any flavor of your choosing  through the Dairy Queen app. I repeat, this deal is not available in-store — it’s exclusive to their rewards program through the app. As a heads up, you do have to spend at least $1 on another product before you can redeem the reward. Maybe you’re a french fry milkshake dipper and can pick up a side of fries to complete the deal. I’m not sure how a pumpkin and french fry combo would taste, but there’s only one way to find out, right?

This celebratory deal only lasts until September 21 (a Blizzard on the 21 night of September? Sounds like a plan), so make sure to dance your way over there before then if you’re looking for a tasty brainfreeze.

What fall Blizzard flavors can you get for 85 cents?

It just so happens that this birthday promo comes right after the release of the fall menu, which is out today. The menu features a returning classic, the pumpkin pie Blizzard, which contains actual chunks of actual pie (a big win for those whose favorite Thanksgiving food is pumpkin pie), as well as two new flavors. These include a caramel toffee cookie Blizzard and a maple cookie shake. They’re really going all in the baked goods element, apparently.

And while you might want to run over right now, if you can wait a little over a week, you can use the birthday deal to test out one of these new flavors for that cool 85 cent price. Of course, you don’t have to get a fall flavor with the deal. The classic flavors are also an option if M&Ms or cookie dough are more your speed.

Despite the release of fall menus everywhere, the weather is still nice and warm, so it’s definitely still ice cream season (though I’d definitely argue ice cream is a year-round delight). So if you’re looking for a cold treat, September h is a date between you and an 85 cent Blizzard.
