Could You Nail The Edward Cullen Apple Kick?

It’s to no one’s surprise that the Twilight movies are still finding their way into current viral moments, even with its release dating 17 years ago. TikTok users have poked fun at certain dialogue clips from the films for years, laughing at the words “loca” and “imprinted.” We have seen cosplays, parodies, and pov videos, but nothing could’ve prepared us for the latest video series — attempting the Edward Cullen apple kick.

What is the Edward Cullen apple kick?

In the first Twilight film, Bella and Edward have a moment in the Forks High School cafeteria. Bella is theorizing on what exactly she thinks Edward is, because clearly he was not your average high schooler. Bella then drops an apple, and Edward, being the vampire that he is, kicks it effortlessly back up into his hands. The move itself is quite impressive, and I’m surprised Forks didn’t want him on the soccer team. Nonetheless, that moment proves to Bella that something is off about Edward, and propels the vampire storyline into the rest of the film. You might be wondering, why is this fruit kick coming back into the limelight? Well, humans love a challenge, and let’s be honest, didn’t we all want to be vampires after watching Twilight.

How do you attempt the apple kick?

TikToker Beavan Zulu took it upon himself to try and perfect the infamous Edward Cullen Apple Kick. Turning it into a daily series, Beavan pushes an apple off his countertop and gets into the same stance that Edward was in. He correlates the number of attempts with the number of days since he started trying this trick. For example, he gets two attempts on day two. The first two tries he did not wear any shoes (ouch), but he’s recently sported a single dress shoe for his latest attempts. His very first try went better than expected. Beavan successfully kicked the apple, but unfortunately, it went flying away from his hands.

Day three seemed to be the best go around yet. On his final go for the day, the apple shot straight off his foot and skimmed the back of his hand. His shocked expression perfectly matched the reactions of the commenters, myself included. TikTok is now impatiently awaiting his attempt at day 5, hoping to see Edward Cullen’s vampire abilities perfectly replicated.

I tried channeling my inner Edward and attempted the apple kick myself. I was too scared to try it without shoes, using my Uggs as a safeguard. I was not nearly as successful as Beavan, but I did get the apple to kick up to my shins. I found that the apple can go flying in all directions, mine smashing into my table and denting itself on the edge. I think I’ll leave this fruit ninja ordeal to Edward Cullen and whichever TikToker wants to give it a go next. I’m still rooting for you Beavan, from the comfort of my own couch.
