Have you ever been that person stepping out in 20 degree weather to go to your local coffee shop and purchase an iced coffee? Yep, the cold weather may never bother you even if it means to continue getting your year-round iced latte.
The only problem is that having an ice-cold drink in your hands in the midst of winter can make your hands, well, ice cold. If you’re someone whose hands are still freezing with gloves on (trust me, it happens), then it’s time to consider an alternative — introduce the Sleeve by Blank Street Coffee.
If you’ve been on TikTok within the past few days, then you may have noticed some people scattering to either New York City or London to get their hands on the new accessory while sporting an iced matcha in hand. Interested in knowing more? Good, because I’m here to tell you all about the hype around it.
What is the Blank Street Coffee Sleeve?
What started out as a fashion statement during London Fashion Week (LFW), the Sleeve came as an idea by Elizabeth Brierley, the senior marketing associate at Blank Street Coffee. After a limited-edition run for the market launch, the accessory was later spotted at a pop-bar at LFW’s NewGen collective space. Hence why you probably saw TikToks of people in London trying out the accessory for themselves.
The Sleeve borrows its look from a puffer jacket and sports a green color that is an excellent nod to the Blank Street Coffee’s visual identity. It also draws inspiration from the growing trend of turning everyday utilities into fashionable accessories (getting Dunkin‘ Iced Coffee Glove vibes anyone?). The material is designed to keep your hands warm thanks to the comfiness of the padding.
If you’re a year-round iced coffee person — or any iced drink — this might be one of the best investments that you’ll make. Even more so, many people on TikTok are overjoyed by the new product from Blank Street.
TikToker Dani Dimitroval, @danidimitrova1, was in London when got the Sleeve. She didn’t attend LFW but got the Sleeve from the London-based Blank Street Coffee instead. In the video, she puts the koozie over her iced matcha. TikToker Hannah Brelsford, @hannah.brelsford, shows her unboxing the Sleeve with the caption “cannot wait to use this!!” In order to get the full experience, @minducapham visited the New York City location of Blank Street Coffee to purchase his sleeve, and interestingly enough, his drink came free.
How can I buy the Sleeve?
If you happen to be in the New York City area, be aware that the koozies are sold in limited quantities at select Blank Street Coffee stores for $18. However, you can ditch the long lines and order the accessory online for a scheduled pickup or local delivery.
