The Internet’s Favorite Ways To Whimsify Breakfast

The Internet is currently obsessed with “whimsymaxxing” — that is, incorporating whimsy into every nook and cranny of life. The trend’s lightheartedness has sparked a revolution of bringing back childhood wonder: think ribbons, rainbows, fairies, and skipping around barefoot in a meadow of flowers.

Arguably one of the Internet’s favorite places to incorporate whimsy is in their breakfast. Breakfast is the meal that sets the tone for the day, and Gen Z wants their day to start with whimsy. Here are a few simple and unserious ways to whimsify breakfast and add joy to your morning meals.

Sprinkles

Cupcakes aren’t the only ones that have sprinkles covering them now — the whimsical breakfast puts sprinkles on everything. Toast, oatmeal, yogurt, pancakes — you name it, sprinkles have to be on top of a whimsical breakfast.

While it doesn’t matter exactly what kind of sprinkles you use on your breakfast, I personally think that rainbow sprinkles, star-shaped sprinkles, and little white nonpareils have the most fun vibes.

Fun Fruit Shapes & Arrangements

Cutting and arranging fruits is another fun way to turn a boring yogurt bowl or piece of toast into something so cute that you’ll almost not want to eat it.

Many breakfast whimsy-maxxers enjoy cutting their fruits, such as watermelon and bananas, into hearts and stars with mini fruit-cutters. Others arrange their fruits to make butterflies out of strawberries and dates. Others create adorable bear face toasts with peanut butter, banana ears and snouts, and blueberries eyes and noses.

Whatever the creation, using your fruit to its fullest whimsy potential is a must.

Natural Fruit Colorings

Mixing fruit into your yogurt or cream cheese is a simple way to elevate your yogurt bowl or bagel from a Plain Jane to ultimate whimsical breakfast status.

By cooking down blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, or blackberries, you can turn anything white — like Greek yogurt or plain cream cheese — into a beautiful and natural purple or pink color that tastes just as delicious as it looks.

If you don’t have fresh fruits, you can also try mixing jam into your yogurt or cream cheese for fun colors in your breakfast.

Cute Ice Cubes

If you’re less of a breakfast person and more of a “coffee and go” type, you can still incorporate whimsy into your morning drink by using fun ice cube molds. Cute ice cubes fit perfectly into any iced drink, whether it’s coffee, matcha, or tea.

Hearts and stars are the most commonly found ice cube shapes in whimsical drinks, but if you want to be extra adventurous, you could try a dinosaur, butterfly, or even a bunny ice cube tray that is sure to make you smile on your way to class or work.
