Ben and Jerry’s New Cookie Cores Will Change the Way You Eat Ice Cream

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at NYU chapter.

I’m totally on board with the Ben & Jerry’s Core concept. I mean, they’re basically designed to be eaten out of the pint. On the real though, I was disappointed with the first round that came out. Sure, I ate my weight in each flavor, but I didn’t love any of them. When the new cookie cores were announced, I decided it was my duty to review them. So I tracked down all three flavors and tried them all… you know, for journalistic purposes.

Spectacular Speculoos (Dark caramel and vanilla ice creams with speculoos cookies and a speculoos cookie butter core)

As you already know, we go apeshit for cookie butter. I mean, a spoonable gingerbread cookie is kind of a no-brainer. And in ice cream form? Come on. The core is so soft and flavorful, and it works perfectly with the not-too-sweet ice creams on either side. I may never eat straight cookie butter again.

Peanut Buttah (Peanut butter ice cream with crunchy peanut butter sugar bits, peanut butter cookies and a peanut butter cookie core)

Full disclosure: I came into this review prepared to love this one. I’m a ride-or-die peanut butter bitch. And my boo didn’t disappoint–the melty peanut butter core and the crunchy salty cookie bits are right-swipe booty-call good.

Boom Chocolatta! (Mocha and caramel ice creams with chocolate cookies, fudge flakes and a chocolate cookie core)

Tastes like a frappucino, but exponentially less douchey. The cookie center in this guy is the best of all of them—picture a river of creamy ground Oreos.

Ben and Jerry, you have out-danked yourself with these pints. Now excuse me while I continue my…journalistic research.
