Oh, April Fools’ Day. A designated holiday where fast food chains, beverage brands, and culinary companies can’t resist taking to the internet with April Fools’ food prank creations cooked up from the wildest of imaginations. And while some products are truly just gags, some brands take it one step further and actually release the proposed product. Here’s the best April Fools’ Day food pranks we’ve seen so far, from the ones we never want to see again to the products we really wish were real.
Crunch Bar Lite
Have you ever thought, man, eating a Crunch Bar is so noisy? Lucky for you, the cooked rice Crunch Bar is (not) here! Made with boiled rice, the new candy bar promises a 75% noise reduction. Crunch is calling it their “quietest bar ever,” so now you can munch and crunch in silence.
Celsius Rip Sticks & FUELD Energy Pouches
If you are looking for creative ways to consume your caffeine, look elsewhere, because Celsius does not have you covered with the brand’s two new prank products. First up is a line of nasal drip sticks, Celsius Rip Sticks, which will give you 20 milligrams of caffeine per rip — If they were real, of course.
And to fuel the prank fire, they’ve “introduced” Celsius FUELD Energy Pouches, which come with 50 milligrams of caffeine and look a whole lot like Zyn’s nicotine pouches. Plus, the canisters feature a gag warning label too: “This product may cause overproductiveness and ability to empower you to accomplish your day.”
Both products come in four different flavors: orange, arctic cherry, kiwi strawberry, and wild berry.
Dr. Pepper Tic Tacs
Tic Tac USA teased a collaboration with Dr. Pepper as their April Fools’ prank on their Instagram account, featuring an image of mini Dr. Pepper cans in a Tic Tac container. It’s too bad this is a prank, because if the Sprite Tic Tacs are any indication, I think the Dr. Pepper breath mints would be pretty good.
Pickle Tic Tacs
Dr. Pepper Tic Tacs isn’t the only April Fools’ flavor Tic Tac has for us. The Tic Tac Global Instagram account delivered a prank in the form of pickle-flavored Tic Tacs with the slogan, “It’s Green, It Tickles, It’s Pickles!” I was down for the Dr. Pepper collab, but let’s keep the pickle Tic Tacs firmly in the realm of jokes.
KFC Fried Chicken Toothpaste
KFC and Hismile are combining the powers of toothpaste and fried chicken to bring you a limited-edition fried chicken-flavored toothpaste. Made to mimic eating actual KFC, the toothpaste features the “unmistakable taste of crispy, golden perfection with notes of the legendary 11 herbs and spices.”
And if that isn’t enough to satisfy your cravings, they’ve also got a KFC branded toothbrush to complete the collab. This prank, though, isn’t entirely a joke — fans can buy both items on HiSmile’s website now.
Nutella AirBnB
Calling all Nutella lovers out there — Nutella has created the prank of your dreams in the form of Hazelnut Heaven, a Nutella-themed AirBnB. Rated 5/5 jars, this place has everything a Nutella Lover could need with a whole list of amenities including a “Nutella nook,” a “Nutella dispenser,” “Nutella pool floaties,” and even “hazelnut and cocoa scented sheets.”
Popeyes Pickle-Flavored Lemonade
Popeyes swears their new pickle-flavored lemonade isn’t a joke, but considering it’s dropping today, it definitely feels like it. I mean, come on, pickle-flavored lemonade? It sounds as wild as it probably tastes. However, it is in fact on their online menu, described as a mix of lemonade and pickle juice, and you can get it in either regular or frozen style. The lemonade drops alongside a new pickle-inspired menu that includes fried pickles and a pickle glaze for their fried chicken.
Welch’s Erewhon Strawberry Fruit Snacks
Welch’s is getting in on the Fools’ Day fun by mocking the viral $20 Erewhon strawberry with their own version — a single strawberry fruit snack in its own custom case, as works of art like Welch’s Fruit Snacks should be, which is a steal at only $19. According to the taste test video, the treat is “worth every penny.”
Kikkoman Soy Sauce Perfume
The iconic soy sauce brand has a brand new bottle to share with us in honor of April Fools’ Day: that is, a perfume bottle. Spritz of Soy — Eau de Parfum features a soybean scent with slight notes of wheat and salt, because if the salty flavor is delectable in our dishes, it has to be a good fragrance to wear, too.
