The Gilmore girls, everyone’s favorite mother-daughter duo, are coming back to Netflix soon. But, they can come to your kitchen even sooner through a new cookbook, titled Eat Like A Gilmore: Recipes inspired by the chefs of Stars Hollow, in December 2016.
Anyone who has watched the show knows that food plays an important role. Throughout its seven seasons, we watched Lorelai and Rory consume inordinate amounts of giant char burgers, pancakes, and donuts from Luke’s; Chinese takeout from Al’s Pancake World; candy of all kinds from Doose’s Market; pizza from Antonioli’s; disgusting amounts of Pop-Tarts, and, of course, coffee, coffee, coffee.
There were also the Friday night dinners with Emily and Richard and their more upscale food. And, we can’t forget Sookie Saint James, Lorelei’s best friend and head chef at the Independence Inn and then the Dragonfly Inn, who was always concocting some mouth-watering meal.
The cookbook, which will bring together the outrageously unhealthy foods consumed by the Gilmore girls with the swanky food of Emily and Richard and Sookie’s comfort food, is a project started by a fan, Kristi Carlson. Carlson, who is a caterer and baker, started a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the creation of the book. Her goal at the campaign’s launch on March 14th was to raise $20,000 before April 16th, but the project is such a success among fans that she reached her goal just a week later.
We hear you, Lorelai and Rory. If you love food as much as the Gilmore girls do, be sure to look out for the cookbook next winter. It’s a marriage of our two favorite things: Gilmore Girls and food. So much Stars Hollow-related excitement… so little time.
