A few weeks back I got an email about Shipt, a grocery delivery service. Between hanging out with friends and studying, I usually don’t have time to go to the grocery store every week.

I signed up for Shipt and have now used it about three times. I’ve fallen in love. Here is how the process works: First, you sign up for either a membership for $14 a month or $99 a year. This enables you to get free grocery delivery on an unlimited number of orders for orders that are at least $35. Second, you download the app and login to your account. Once you’ve logged in, you can click away through the hundreds of items at your local grocery store and add them to your virtual cart. Items are divided into categories, so you can use those to gather ideas or you can use the search bar if you know exactly what you want.

When you’re done ordering, you pick an hour-long time slot for delivery. Then just sit back, relax, and wait for your food to arrive at the chosen time.

My experience with Shipt has been overwhelmingly positive. When an item is sold out in the store, the shopper will send you a text asking whether there is an alternative item you would like. I once realized that an item was not delivered to me and that I had been charged for the item, so I submitted a report and was refunded completely for the item in a few days.

If I could change anything about Shipt, it would be with regard to the fish and meat counter. There is a minimum order amount of 0.5 pounds for fish, which is more than I would want for one meal for myself.

Right now, Shipt exists in mostly southern states, like North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia. The service is very new, so keep checking back on their website to see whether they expand to your city.
