No GMOs. No soy. No dairy or eggs. No high-fructose corn syrup. No cholesterol. No trans fat. No artificial sweeteners. And no sugar alcohol. Yep, that’s right. That’s what you’ll read on the foil packing of a Lenny & Larry’s Complete Cookie. Yes, I did say cookie. With everything so natural you’re probably wondering how it can actually be a cookie. Don’t worry, I wondered the same thing and I figured it out for all of us.

Rewind! Quick history lesson. Lenny & Larry’s was founded in 1993 by Barry Turner with the goal to “make protein fun.” Barry Turner was a devout bodybuilder and even appeared on the TV show American Gladiators as Cyclone for the 1992-1993 season.

Turner, or Cyclone if you prefer, was accustomed to the bulk and cut lifestyle of a bodybuilder and he was on a mission to make protein something other than the cookie-cutter grilled chicken and protein shake meals. So that’s exactly what he did with business partner Benny Graham.

Lenny & Larry’s offers three products: The Complete Cookie, Muscle Muffin and Muscle Brownie. Out of the three, The Complete Cookie definitely claims the most popularity. Offered in 11 flavors ranging from the traditional chocolate chip to more specialty cookies such as birthday cake, The Complete Cookie has a flavor for everyone.

Nutritionally, the cookies differ in value, but generally the cookies have about 180 calories per serving with about 6g of fat, 24g of carbs and 8g of protein. Sure, the cookies are on the higher end for carbs but you have to keep in mind that these cookies are all natural. As for sugar, there is around 14g per serving but again, none of this is refined.

So why should you jump on the Lenny & Larry’s bandwagon? Like I said, this product’s platform is to make their food clean. To keep your body going, you want food that can fuel it best. These cookies are vegan and 100 percent kosher. Also, I will gladly attest to the truth that these jumbo protein cookies do taste like normal cookies (FYI, I am not vegetarian or vegan). Just give them a shot – you won’t regret it!

#Spoontip: heat the cookies up in the microwave for 10-15 seconds and receive extra gooey-ness.
