On September 27th, I did something completely spontaneous, but something I had wanted to do for a while. I knew that it was going to make my life better, and I had done hours of research on the cause to make sure it was a right fit for me. This was something I wanted to be really committed to, enough to make a complete lifestyle change in one day.

In case you are wondering, no, this is not the day I went vegan.  This was the day I adopted my cute, fluffy, perfect rabbit Luna.

I had wanted a pet rabbit for a very long time — rabbits are not only the cutest animals in the world, but they are great companions, and they are known to have silly personalities that will make you fall in love (as long as they are cared for correctly, rabbits are basically fluffier cats — and even dogs, if you take them on a leash.)

I did not become a vegan right away. In fact, I always condemned the idea of being vegan, thinking it was radical, extreme, and not worth of the effort of starving myself of nutrients and protein (or so I thought).

I did feel a little guilty knowing I was cooking chicken for dinner while my sweet little Luna relaxed in my lap nibbling carrots, spinach and strawberries. Once in awhile, I would think, “Should I feel guilty for giving this bunny a wonderfully free life while other animals are being forced into barely a life at all?”

Of course, I always avoided beauty products that tested on animals, but never did I think I’d completely change my lifestyle and eating habits. But lo and behold, it happened, I went completely vegan. Going vegan does not happen overnight — in fact, I was a vegetarian for about 3 weeks before I realized I was eating less and less cheese, and more and more soy milk.

Everyday, I discover new and recipes as well new foods I enjoy. I learned how to get my proper nutrients while eating as much as I want in a life full of abundance.

Being vegan has helped me physically, as well as emotionally. My conscious is clean while eating, and I enjoy all of the new foods and cooking I am able to do as a vegan. I owe it all to by best friend: my little rabbit, Luna, who inspired me to make one of the best choices of my life.
