Just as the sun goes down, so does the “open” sign on our favorite restaurants. If we lived in a perfect world, all of our favorite food places would be open 24/7. But sadly, we do not live in a perfect world and you cannot get a #4 from Jimmy John’s at all hours of the day. (But you can get breakfast all day at McDonald’s, small victories people.)
Since a majority of places do, in fact, have a closing time, you have probably experienced trying to hit up those places pretty darn close to closing. If so, you understand the overwhelming despair that occurs when the store is officially closed. And it’s even worse when they close earlier than stated.
Having worked at many food places, I get it. No one likes the hundreds of chores required for closing and everyone just wants to go home and sleep. But please, if I want to get a burrito at 10:50pm, lemme get a burrito at 10:50pm.
Luckily, Adele gets it. Her song “Hello” describes every inner emotion that we may feel when our favorite restaurant is closed. It’s Adele, how could we expect anything less?
When you walk up to a restaurant, but all the doors are locked.
The sign says 11:00, it’s 10:47.
Yet, everything is turned on.

But they still don’t let you in.
