Like many who live in LA, I’m a huge foodie and love to do lots of my own cooking. When I have time off, I like to go out to eat so delivery wasn’t really my thing here like it was when I lived in NYC. Then as work demands increased, I got a little too busy to shop and prep and cook every single night and found myself standing over my kitchen sink eating cookie dough ice cream for dinner one too many times.

Enter Munchery… my dinner salvation.

I remember the first time I saw a Facebook ad for Munchery Meal Delivery I thought “oh, that’s cool” but didn’t give it much thought. I knew that the famous Kogi Bbq creator Roy Choi was involved in it somehow but still I wasn’t moved to investigate any further.

Munchery is a meal delivery service that seems to have one simple yet inspired purpose – to convince you not to settle for shitty takeout. Chefs create fresh, delicious dishes of all sorts – from decadent mac & cheese and fall-apart tender smoked ribs to vibrant grain bowls and colorful salads.

The meals are made with all fresh seasonal ingredients and come complete with sauces so all you have to do is heat and eat. What I really like is that they do their best to make sure your food looks like the pictures on the website.

Like this BBQ Chicken Slaw Salad bowl prepared by Chef Scott Garrett. They deliver to your office or home so I got this salad for lunch and another dish for dinner.

Although I heated the chicken in the microwave, it was so tender and moist that I almost couldn’t believe it. I also really loved the tangy BBQ sauce. The chefs make all the sauces and condiments and they taste so fresh. You won’t be adding to your stock pile of plastic ketchup packs you got over there.

Meals are only $9.95 each regularly (and only $7.95 each if you join their membership program) which if you ask me, is a damn good price for quality eats.

For dinner the next night, I tried the CHICKEN SALTADO WITH AJI CHILE prepared by Chef Ali De Paz.

It’s a Peruvian dish that I am now totally in love with. It’s a chicken stir-fry, combined with French fries (YES! FRENCH FRIES), tomatoes, red onions, yellow aji chile paste, oyster sauce, soy sauce, and a rich cilantro and garlic sauce. It may sound nuts, but all the flavors are ridiculously delicious together.

Since it was dinner time, I opted to plate my meal up to look like theirs. After all, I’m a hardworking gal and I deserve dinner made with love by 5-star chefs – and that calls for a real plate and fork no? I think yes.

Heated for one minute on high, the chicken was perfectly moist, the rice was fluffy and the tomatoes had soaked up all those delicious spices – seriously delicious AF.
