In case you're unaware, Halloween is right around the corner. If you're anything like my friend and I, you've successfully managed to not prepare on time, and are scrambling to get your sh*t together... take that from the girl without a costume... and without Halloween decorum. Don't be like me... I have some Halloween news for you, so you could successfully prepare on time and not be like me. Costume advice not included, but that doesn't matter when we're all a little scary as our true selves as is.

KIND

Note; this is strictly what to get for trick or treaters near you... or for you if you're that trick or treater near you... that's what I'd do. KIND has a few offerings for Halloween this year, as they do every year, cause they're KIND... full pun intended. KIND has something called KIND Minis, which you know, are mini KIND bars... if you ask me, I'd eat the whole box in an entire sitting and not share with trick or treaters near you. Said KIND Minis are packed in indulgent flavors in 100-calories-or-less sized bars, have have 5g of sugar or less, 0g of trans fat and are made with wholesome ingredients and no artificial sweeteners. KIND Minis come in delish flavors like Dark Chocolate Almond Coconut, Salted Caramel Dark Chocolate Nut and Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate.

Also, KIND has something NEW, and that's their NEW Simple Crunch bars. The super crunchy two-bar pack will keep us all celebrating Halloween all night long, unlike you're like me and pass out early each night in order to wake up early each morning. Each pack is made with ten ingredients or less, 100% whole grains and no genetically engineered ingredients. The nice thing is, there are three flavors to choose from – Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate & Oats and Oats & Honey – to be gluten free and a great source of fiber. Dark Chocolate & Oats and Oats & Honey are even a good source of iron.

Welch's

Coming in clutch with more Halloween news for you, Welch's has some Mixed Fruit Halloween Fruit Snacks that are made with real fruit as always... cause fake fruit's just gross; ask my nutritionist. Not only that, but they're gluten-free with no fat and no preservatives. A 28-count box retails for $4.49, and an 85-count box retails anywhere from $7.99 to $9.99. The snacks are available at Walmart, Target, Dollar General, Walgreens, CVS, Kroger and other local retailers.

Cocktails

Liz Abere

Some fun Halloween news for adults... Gabe Orta has two favorite cocktails that he likes to consume around this time, which are shown above. On the left is Harvest Road, which is a jammy whisky drink with a hint of heat; on the right is Smoky Calabazza, which is better than a pumpkin spice latte… because rum.

Harvest Road is made with 1 bar spoon of Tabasco sauce, 1 oz Rye Whiskey, 1/2 oz port wine, 2 bar spoons of black berry jam, 1/2 oz lemon juice, 1 sage stalk, and a sage and 2 blackberry garnish. Preparation includes placing all ingredients into a cocktail shaker, filling with ice and shake for 8-10 seconds, and straining into a rocks glass filled with ice.

Smoky Calabazza is made with 1 bar spoon Tabasco chipotle sauce, 1 oz Jamaican rum, 1/4 oz scotch, 1/2 oz sweet coconut cream, 2 heaping bar spoons pumpkin purée, and a dash of angostura with a garnish of grated nutmeg. To make the drink, place all ingredients into a cocktail shaker, fill with ice and shake for 8-10 seconds, and double strain into a clean chilled cocktail glass.

Now that I've shared some Halloween news with you, I hope that you can go out and celebrate properly to a certain extent. While I can't offer any solid advice on costumes since I'm just a girl that almost always wears all black, don't let the stress of life be more scary than Halloween decorum this year.
