As a child, it’s socially acceptable for you to eat a breakfast with more sugar in it than your dessert. But as you grow older, nutrition in the morning becomes much more important and you start to wean off the sugary cereals. So here is a list of 14 cereals from your childhood that will make you wish you never grew up (or that you still had the metabolism of a child).

1. Lucky Charms

Starting off the list with a classic cereal. Lucky Charms were great whether you ate them plain, with milk, or saved all the charms for last. Or maybe you were that kid who picked all the charms out of the box and left the plain pieces for everyone else (maybe I was that kid).

2. Fruity Pebbles

To be honest, the cereal was a lot better than the show. Cocoa Pebbles or Fruity Pebbles, this crunchy delicious cereal made any morning great.

3. Reese’s Puffs

No child could resist the power of peanut butter chocolate flavor. This yummy cereal was an excellent way of getting away with eating candy for breakfast.

4. Cocoa Krispies

The chocolatey brother of Rice Krispies. Every kid knew that Snap, Crackle, and Pop knew what they were doing when they made this amazing breakfast cereal.

5. Frosted Flakes

They’re more than good, they were a super sugary cereal that we could pretend was somewhat healthy. Because lets be real, the kids eating them in the commercials were always grrrrrrreat athletes.

6. Cap’n Crunch

With virtually no nutritional value, Cap’n Crunch was one of the best tasting cereals. The amount of sugar was enough to make any kid get hyper AF and then crash. I guess that’s what crunch-a-tizing is.

#SpoonTip: Feeling fancy AND nostalgic? Try this Captain Crunch French toast.

7. Fruit Loops

These colorful O’s always looked so aromatic in the advertisements. 100 times better than those other O’s – Cheerios. A solid 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

8. Apple Jacks

Apple Jacks were the yummy cinnamon version of Fruit Loops. To this day I’m still not sure if there’s a difference in flavor between the green and orange pieces.

9. Honey Smacks

Ranked #1 as the most unhealthy cereal to eat by CBS news, Sugar Smacks are a cavity waiting to happen. But they were so darn tasty.

10. Trix

For some reason I just could not get enough of these sweet flavors as a kid. They may be just for kids, but I’m pretty sure it still counts if you’re a kid at heart.

11. Cinnamon Toast Crunch

Cinnamon Toast Crunch still seems like it could be an acceptable cereal for adults to eat, probably because it has ‘toast’ in it, which is a real breakfast food.

12. Honey-Comb

This sweet, sugary honey flavor was matched in deliciousness only by the crunchiness that went along with it.

13. Cookie Crisp

Cookies for breakfast? Absolutely yes, please. If you’re feeling crafty, you can even DIY the recipe and make your own.

14. Cocoa Puffs

Remember when we were all cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs? We probably all still are. As a kid, there was nothing more appealing than a bird who found his high on a sugary breakfast cereal.

Hopefully these made you reminisce on the breakfasts of your past. Or maybe you’re like me and this only reminded of you of your present.
