McRib fans, your time has come! Starting Nov. 1, the McRib sandwich will be returning to select McDonald’s locations nationwide, for a limited time.
The McRib’s return also coincides with a huge milestone for the juicy, savory sandwich: its 40th birthday! In 1981, the McRib made its debut in Kansas City, where it became a regional favorite and than sky-rocketed to international stardom and eventual meme-dom.
For those who don’t know, the McRib is comprised of a boneless pork patty (yes, boneless, despite the name!) slathered in a tangy barbecue sauce and topped with onions and pickles for major crunch power, all on a delicious homestyle bun.
“Whether you’re a McRib loyalist or first timer, there is no denying that the McRib is one of the most iconic sandwiches of the last four decades and we have thousands of emails and tweets from fans to prove it,” said Mike Bullington, Senior Archives Manager at McDonald’s in a press release statement.
And there you have it! Be sure to mark your calendars.
