If you open my freezer at any given time, there are at least three boxes of waffles. As a college student, with little time to prepare healthy meals during the week, store-bought frozen waffles have become a staple in my diet. Blueberry. Multi-Grain. Pumpkin spice. Chocolate chip. You name it, I’ve tried it. I’ve accumulated quite a long list of favorite brands and flavors I return to. To help save some grocery aisle idle time, here are some of my favorite frozen waffles.

Van's Blueberry Waffles

Van’s is a brand I recently discovered, and it has yet to disappoint. Offering a line of protein waffles and several gluten-free options, they cater to health-conscious customers. However, if you’re not at all health-conscious, Van’s is not short on flavor. While every flavor I’ve tried is delicious, the blueberry waffles are a stand-out-- with real blueberries that will remind you of the homemade real-deal.

Nature's Path Dark Chocolate Chip Waffles

I’ve eaten more of these chocolate chip waffles than any other breakfast food combined - and for good reason. If you love chocolate, Nature’s Path offers the perfect waffle for you. With just the right amount of sweetness and chocolate chips, you can have this sweet treat any time of the day: breakfast, mid-day snack, dessert, or (in my case) dinner. Plus, it's organic and gluten-free, so you can enjoy guilt-free.

Eggo Homestyle Waffles

This list would not be complete without the addition of Eggo waffles. Like many others, Eggo was a staple breakfast food throughout my childhood - and perhaps the root of my frozen waffle addiction. While they offer several fun options, the nostalgic flavor of homestyle simply cannot be beat. With a very subtle sweetness, they are versatile, allowing for endless pairings with syrup, peanut butter, fruit, whipped cream, etc.

Kodiak Cakes' Buttermilk Thick and Fluffy Power Waffle

Kodiak Cakes’ Buttermilk Thick and Fluffy waffles are unlike any other waffle on the list. Extremely - you guessed it - thick and fluffy, these frozen waffles imitate real buttermilk waffles made in a proper waffle iron. Thus, they are perfect for a lazy weekend brunch or simply a special treat. If you’re not interested in such a decadent start to the morning, Kodiak Cakes also offers a variety of health-conscious options, including protein-rich and gluten-free options.

Eggo French Toaster Sticks

While not technically a waffle, Eggo French Toaster Sticks are a breakfast staple that MUST be included as a bonus. Growing up, this dessert-like breakfast item was my main motivation for getting out of bed and making it to school on time. Somehow, ten years later, this statement holds true. While the cinnamon flavor and fluffy texture make these delicious enough to eat on their own, they are perfect for dipping in syrup.

While you can’t go wrong with any frozen waffle, there are certainly some stand-out flavors and brands on the market. Next time you’re perusing the frozen aisles of your local grocery store, you can reference this handy list to inform your decision. With whatever waffle you chose, make sure to grab more than just one box.
