How to Add Pumpkin to Your Favorite Foods

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Syracuse chapter.

As soon as September hits, all thoughts of summer are abandoned. People trade in their bathing suits for sweaters and their iced tea for a mug of something warmer. Luckily, the fall season also brings fall flavors.

The combination of cinnamon, ginger, cloves and nutmeg form autumn’s most popular flavor: pumpkin spice. You can add these spices to your favorite foods and make anything taste like a pumpkin.

Add a pinch of all four spices to these foods to spice them up for fall:

  • Oatmeal
  • Yogurt
  • Toast
  • Apples
  • Peanut Butter
  • Cereal
  • Cream Cheese
  • Smoothies
  • Ice Cream
  • Coffee
  • Tea

Mixing cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves with all these foods will make them instantly taste like autumn. And, to make a sweeter taste, add a pinch of sugar too.

If you like things on the unconventional side, you could even add these spices to meat or sandwiches. Whatever foods you fancy can instantly become this season’s favorite meal. So, go ahead, pumpkin spice-ify everything!
