The holiday season is a time for family, friends, giving, and love. But, sprinkled in with that are other things that I cherish so much about this time of year, including holiday cookies and Christmas movies. Baking cookies and watching classic movies are festivities that I look forward to each year.

However, with the abundance of amazing cookie recipes out there, it an be a challenge to decide what type of cookie to make. So, in an effort to make things slightly easier, I have made a list of the right cookie for you based on your favorite Christmas movie. Thank me later.

"Elf" — Maple Brown Sugar Cookies

Carlotta Esposito

If your favorite movie is "Elf," you know that one of Buddy's four main food groups is maple syrup. Buddy pours the sugary syrup over everything from pasta to candy, so we know that these holiday cookies would be right up his alley.  Maple syrup makes everything better, right?

"Home Alone" — Ice Cream Sundae Cookies

In addition to his love of pizza, any die-hard "Home Alone" lover knows that 8-year-old Kevin can do some damage on an ice cream sundae. So, while these cookies may not be a holiday tradition, I'm sure that Kevin would appreciate these fudge-filled and sprinkle-topped cookies at his holiday table.

"The Polar Express" — Hot Chocolate Cookies

In the "Polar Express," hot chocolate is a big deal. So, it's no surprise that a hot cocoa cookie would be perfect for any lover of this classic holiday movie. Any child on the Polar Express would go nuts for these chewy chocolate cookies topped with a gooey marshmallow.

"Frosty The Snowman" — Melted Snowmen Cookies

"Frosty the Snowman" is a holiday icon, and for good reason. The movie's plot is based around keeping Frosty frozen. If this is your favorite Christmas-time movie, you'll appreciate the adorable look of these melted snowmen cookies (even if we are praying that Frosty doesn't melt).

"How The Grinch Stole Christmas" — Green Crinkle Cookies

Grinch fans know that the Grinch has a tiny heart and despises Christmas. With these adorable holiday cookies, maybe we can bring back some love into the Grinch's heart (and into our stomachs, because the green cookies are delicious). They are even adorned with little heart sprinkles for an extra-festive touch.

The holiday season is a time to be with the ones you love, and baking holiday cookies and watching movies are both great ways to spend it. So, soften up the butter, get those blankets ready, and take out that old stack of movies, because Christmas is coming soon!
