Onesto translates directly from Italian to honest, and Onesto Artisan Crackers definitely fit the mold with the motto “Eating Honest Never Tasted So Good.” The gourmet crackers are gluten-free and made with entirely non-GMO, simple ingredients and no chemicals or preservatives. Onesto offers three varieties of gluten-free crackers – Everything, Rosemary, and Sea Salt – and also three varieties of gluten-free and vegan cookies. Here’s what I thought of Onesto Artisan Crackers.

Everything

I love everything bagels and was really looking forward to these crackers, which are flavored with poppyseed, sesame seeds, garlic, onion, and flakes of salt. All of the crackers have the texture of a pita chip but are a little more crumbly. The crackers are pretty thick – they have a nice bite, but sometimes crunching through them required a good amount of effort. At first, the flavor was disappointingly muted. But the more crackers I ate, the more the flavor came through and developed into a bagel-esque taste. Onesto suggests eating these with more mild cheeses and toppings, but I thought they tasted better with stronger and softer cheeses.

Rosemary

The rosemary crackers have a fresh and herbal aroma to them and taste just as refreshing. With flecks of rosemary baked into the cracker and flakes of sea salt scattered on top, the crunchy cracker packs a truly striking rosemary flavor. This cracker was nice with more mild cheeses, but would also work well with most toppings. Onesto also recommends pairing them with meat and roasted vegetables.

Sea Salt

The sea salt crackers were by far my favorite. They are mostly covered in coarse flakes of Himalayan pink salt and match the image with an intensely salty taste. They reminded me of Saltines, but more refined and flavorful. These crackers stand beautifully on their own, but I also enjoyed eating them with a variety of cheeses. Onesto pairs them with dips, soups, and salads.

Overall, these crackers are pretty good – if not a little dry and crunchy – especially for being gluten-free. The artisanal and gourmet aspect definitely made me feel a little higher class than the average college student. If you’re interested in trying them for yourself, the crackers are $6.95 a box, and you can buy them directly from Onesto's website. Happy snacking!
